I had some guy slam into the back of me on the interstate wed night. The bumper seemed to catch most of the impact. I'm not sure if the frame is "tweeked" yet. So,My question is after I get this fixed will my truck lose value if so how much? I know this depends on what's wrong with it. This will show up on records that my truck had been in an accident.

It will, i had a one year old car, somebody ruined the whole side of the car, insurance replace the whole side, but dealer didnt want to purchase it because it was in an accident. Thats somethinghat i dont understand. Insurance pays for the repair but not for the devaluation of the car...

Thats what I figured. The guy that hit me was blacked out from some kinda medical issue. He was probably going 85- 90 , I was doing about 60. I never saw him coming. I'm sore as hell. Now My truck is all jacked up and lost value no matter how well its fixed!

If he tweaked the frame it could be scraped. New truck for you. And him covering your medical bills. Dont worry about the it. I would be pissed as well, but glad to be ok. In the end its just steel.
Glad you are ok OP. :)

Oh, Post some pics when you can

I've been told that anything under $5000 in damage does not have to be reported on your Carfax. If its just your bumper, maybe tweaked bedsides and/or tailgate, you should be OK. I might be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is true. Look into it. Also, you can request compensation for loss of value. If you can prove it (which isn't hard) then they should cover it. If not, don't sign off until they do. Call an attorney, they will gladly give you free consults which help a lot. I talked to about 15 different attorneys for my motorcycle accident. Never paid a penny and got a pretty significant amount of money because I followed their advice.

Incorrect. If there is a police report filed. It will show up. It will show up as minor, moderate, or severe damage. You usually only see severe with an airbag deployment. If i'm appraising one and i pull a carfax, I deduct roughly 6-700 for minor, 8-1000 for moderate, 2k or higher for severe. Also matters how the repair work was done. If you're missing VIN stickers or they're painted over that hurts too. If you can feel tape lines on the edges of body panels, panels misaligned, wavyness in paint (orange peel),etc these all are determining factors when appraising a vehicle. If you need body work, make sure you take it to a very reputable place. If the work is done really well, it can soften the blow to the resale value. Hope this helps. GL.

It's called diminished value. Some states recognize it and some don't. Luckily, Ga does. Good luck.

Thanks for everyone's feedback! I'm really considering contacting a lawyer. I've had a headache everyday and my back is sore and stiff.I went to my primary doctor and they just threw me some pills never really checked me out. If it soreness and headaches continue i'm going to another doctor. I don't really feel like going through this ,but looks like I might have to or I'll probably get screwed. I looked at the space between the cab and bed and the gap seems to wider on the passenger side than the drivers side? Its very slight but noticeable to the eye, even a friend noticed it.

I just measured the space between the cab and bed the drivers side is an 1/4 inch shorter than the passenger side. Is this normal?

A car is a depreciating assett. Damage only accellerates that depreciation.

I'm sure one could buy "accident devaluation coverage"...but may not be reasonable...or worth it :notsure:

No idea, but it's pretty simple. Let's say you are going to purchase a truck, and you have two trucks to choose from, same model, year, miles, etc, one was in an accident, the other didn't. Which one are you going to buy? The price of my car dropped $12.000 in 18 months, once people sees the carfax, that's it.
Anyway, hopefully the op will get a replacement.

    This^^^

I've known a few people that have gotten this with no problem. But I also know of someone that fought and fought to get it. When she did it was like a slap in the face. I can't remember the numbers but she was told the book value dropped like 3k but the insurance would only give something like $700 in diminished value. The accident wasn't her fault either. I don't know what the criteria is of if it depends on the insurance or what. But the others I've known that got it, got a fair amount to cover the loss.
