My 2012 Tacoma was totaled this weekend after a head on collision. Two young girls appx 18 were texting and driving, came around a corner and just totally drifted into my lane so that at the accident the passenger tires were in my lane. They were going way too fast for the curves in the road which were posted advisory at 25 mph must have been doing 45.

I have not gotten a total from the Ins. But both air bags blew, and the front is gone. I need my truck so I am looking at finding one and the prices are insane crazy right now. I found a 2015 with 51k on it Prerunner 2X2 double cab that is crazy clean inside and out for 28k. Normally I would say your nuts but that is actually a good price for what I can find anywhere.

I don't know what they will offer me on my truck. I am hoping they don't low ball me.

That’s brutal, hope you’re OK. Guessing it’s a write off?

I was listening to this podcast the other day and the host was talking about how the price of used (2 year old) Tacoma is more expensive than a brand new Tacoma because there isn’t any new ones available. Being that the production side has slowed down due to a lag in the supply of materials. Same for 4runners apparently. Not sure where you’re at but sounds like the used truck market is just crazy right now.

    Happy hunting

this is my old car that was totaled not too long ago, could’ve been repaired but insurance decided not to for whatever reason, looking at that one it’s probably toast

Thanks Rick. We are OK in the sense that we did not lose a leg or cave our heads in. But my whole body feels like its been run over. And it gets worse every day. I am hoping it will start to calm down a bit. I can not stop running around meeting with adjusters and doctors and the necessary things to get back on track. It has to be done.

Truth of the matter is, the insurance company isn't going to be as worried about the injuries to your truck as they are the injuries to you.

A lot more $ involved with defending a personal injury claim then fixing a truck.

As far as the value of that truck, I've looked at a lot of 2nd gens in the last couple of months and finally bought one...so I know what they are going for. It varies wildly based on options, mileage, condition, and if you are buying from a dealer or a private individual. If you want to post more about your truck, probably a few people could give you a better idea.

Make sure when you are comparing truck prices you are looking at similar versions, yours is a 5-lug version which has a much different value than the 6-lug prerunner you were looking at. All used vehicle prices have gone up do to shortages of new stock, hopefully that will positively affect your vehicle valuation from the ins co.

Thanks. That is my one worry, If prices are high but my truck value is high its offset at least some. But if my valuation is normal its going to be a hassle.

This is one strange coincidence. My Vintage Pontiac Firebird 1980, a rod started knocking the day after the accident. So its in the shop for a rebuild.
