I don't know if i am doing this right. I have a question,
    I am Buying a 1999 Tacoma SR5 V6 Xtra 4x4 Automatic
That has 61,000 been sitting a long time. On title Brand it says Previous Damage-N Carolina I think means Salvaged? not sure. Has not been serviced in over two years. carpet, headliner, need to be replaced. Smells like mold, Had rats nest in air filter. when I do VIN check on it it comes up no accidents. the owner i am buying it from has had the truck since 2001 had 31,000 miles on it. With title saying Damage-N Carolina. The person said it had been rolled. body has a lot of bando. I just need to know how much i should pay for it? hope someone can help me. i am not a computer person

Need to see pics to assess better. How is the frame? Does it run well?

If the frame is ok and engine solid, maybe $2k? It sounds like a cosmetic basket case.

Sounds like you will have your hands full if you buy it. Bondo, possibly rolled, title issues. I suggest you pass.

they took to a appraisal guy that could not get hood open said he could see everything from underneath. but frame is good . he never looked at engine. the fluids have not been changed. i changed the oil and filter. and air filter after he inspected it. he said 8,300. when he didn't look under hood. i don't think it was a good estimate. the person selling me the truck doesn't know anything about the truck maintenance. they take there cars to shop.

It could be a 1999 survivor. With a little elbow grease and a couple of garage weekends, next year comes around and you have a pristine 25 year old classic Toyota sought after by many, but had by few.

I think you are better off buying a 1st gen that has been taken care of, even if it has high miles. I'd personally prefer a truck that has a full service history, and known issues that can be planned for.

This one seems like a wild card, at least from what you posted. If the truck was rolled, it wasn't cared for.

If you buy it for nothing, it will cost you a lot more than that.

I had to learn this the hard way. Got a cheap truck that needed work. It turned out well but the amount of time and energy to get it on the road was enormous.
