    Hey guys/gals

So as you all may know I recently got hit by a drunk driver and lost my beloved 01' prerunner. Sad day in my life RIP "Tacoco". Anyways I was thinking some dude offered me 1600 to buy it as scrap; however the way it was totaled was side damage to the cabin and when the drunk guy tried to take off he pushed the rear axel and sheared the retaining bolt that holds that axel to the leaf spring. If I were to fix it which I have the capabilities how much do you guys think a Tacoma with a salvaged/rebuilt title is worth???

I was told that you can pretty much cut the price in half of a salvaged vehicle.

whats the damage look like? My truck was totaled but it was just rear ended so I only replaced the bed and bumper and some other things. If you have the space I think you could easily make well over 1600 if you parted it out

Here is the body damage. The rear axel was pushed back because a bolt was sheared off the leaf spring but the axel itself was not damaged. ill upload a pic

That really got totaled from that body damage and a sheared off center pin!?

To sell that truck as scrap for 1600 because of a center pin and a tad bit of fixable body damage would be complete lunacy!!!

It got totaled because of the value of the truck minus the cost of the repair/parts.

The cost of the repair which the appraising/repair company quoted was at $8000+ and the guy (f^cking Jody!!!!!!) valued my truck at $6000. So math: My Trucks value(priceless)-Aprased value (Douche Bag JODY) = Totaled!? and the appraisers name was actually Jody

The problem in a salvage title lies in the fact that it's much harder if even possible at all to finance it unless it's a personal loan for much higher interest to buy it.Most lenders won't even touch it. The other problem lies with insurance companies will charge a lot more for full coverage if at all. That makes it's value less and limits the range of buyers. I paid cash for my Taco and only have no fault insurance so it wouldn't have mattered as much to a buyer like me.

It doesn't really look that bad and can easily be fixed. Can't believe they estimated at 8 grand unless they quoted new oem parts and full paint job.But then again some insurance companies are afraid of hidden damages on older vehicles and just write it off as totaled instead of taking a chance it cost alot more then then it's worth
Was it financed?Did they just give you the truck back or are they selling it back to you? They wanted a bunch of money for my totaled Camaro years ago to buy it back.

Too answer the questions it was mine no loan. Bought it in Pheonix AZ and did so much work on it. But I was thinking about fixing it dents, the whole 9 and asking for 5000 with wiggle room. Fair?
