I'm in the IAM Union, we got a $10 raise on our last contract, and thus bought the Tacoma. :anonymous:

You can get Mobil 1 cheaper with their rebate I've gotten 6 5 qt jugs in my garage currently all for about 13 dollars after tax and rebate

I’m thought you can only get 0w-20 I’m full synthetic and they don’t make blends for that weight

I only change it on one of our vehicles since the others are lifetime free changes, your autozone won’t take the oil, they do here. If they are full I save it and use it for the next burn pile, gear oil burns really nice

Yeah between my wife who drives 150 miles a day and the taco, I'm changing the oil a few times a year so I always load up when the rebates come around and like @shakerhood I buy the filters in bulk. I don't trust dealers and quick lube shops for many reasons, always hear horror stories about stripped bolts, loose bolts, neglecting to change filters. And you would honestly never know

First of all it would enhance your stance if you understood the difference between tolerances and clearances. Tolerances are indeed narrower, while clearances are the same as they have been for over 50 years. Without understanding the difference this is lost upon you.
This makes your statement a false tale.

I will just skip the discussion since bearings are built on intended speed and load and leave this conclusion
    • Higher oil viscosity produces greater minimum oil film thickness, more power loss due to friction and more uniform oil film pressure.

In fact Lower viscosity is a trade for lower friction losses at the expense of hydrodynamic film thickness. They rely more in the boundary lubrication regimen.
It is not the end of engines since many motorist have logged hundreds of thousands of miles on 0w20amd 5w20 without a second thought. At the same time, use profiles that would load the engine heavily, shock load the drivetrain or run at extended higher rpms could benefit from higher film thickness.

I apologize for being short and blunt with you. I am normally quite open.

Do you have any current specifications on crankshaft and journal bearing sizes?

This. A quick google search for 0W-20 conventional motor oil came up empty. Even Toyota brand 0W-20 is full synthetic.
