So I like the mod people have done to their head lights with the Black HLM, but I am considering doing it a little different down the road. I would like to try doing a dark gun metal color instead of the black, but still have it be pretty close to black.

This is from thatCarolinaBoys profile. I emailed him, but havent heard from him. if you look at the passenger side headlight, the color from this angle is basically what I have in mind. I saw some of the different angels on the head lights and it doesnt look like he has done anything to the headlights.

So if I want to do a gunmetal type color, does anyone have any ideas how to accomplish this? I went to the Krylon website and couldnt find a close color. One idea that I had was to do a medium silver or even a pewter color, and then use the spray night tint on top of it.

Has anyone tried doing something like this? what about any suggestions on other paint brands to look at?

I wouldnt mind doing a black chrome look, but that seems really hard to pull off, unless I do the mod with the nite tint. What do you guys think?

I know some NAPA locations can color match paint from a sample... so if you bring it in they can scan it, mix it, and put it in an aerosol for you. I dunno how crazy you want to get with this, but it's an idea.

I would just go with something off the shelf... just my .02...

I'm not sure about where you live, but Advance Auto around me carries Duplicolor in a whole variety of colors. I can't say how it would do on plastic but with the right prep I'd think it'd be fine. Find the paint code of the color you like and go for it! You don't need to use Krylon for the BHLM.
