My wife is headed to Vegas mid-July for work and dragging me along for a 'birthday trip'. Neither one of us have ever been. We are staying at the Mandalay Bay hotel. When we travel I like to try and get the best food possible and I had luck on TW when we went to Dallas last year on getting some food tips from the people who live there. Hoping to get the same for Vegas. We will be there 3 nights. Any reco's for things that are a 'must do' are welcome too.

Well, this thread sure caught fire :bananadead:

Heading out in a week and am still planning the "to-do" things...

Anyone tried Wahlburgers? Love the show and want to try it but have seen some pretty bad reviews online :(

Been to Vegas several times, one thing you will learn very quickly is that hotels/casinos on the strip are HUGE and they appear closer than they actually are .. Mandalay Bay is at the furthest end of strip while the Stratosphere is at the furthest other end, use the shuttle bus
If you have time take a trip and see Hoover Dam, it is amazing. There are so many things to see .. be sure and check out the free fountain show in front of Bellagio hotel, the sight from atop the Eifel tower at Paris hotel is awesome at night. Check out the amazing hotels like Bellagio, Caesars Palace and Ventian. Food choices are unreal .. we enjoyed the buffet at Bellagio and if you like pizza try Grimaldos pizza at Pallazo hotel
... the best tip i can give is download the free app TripAdvisor and check out all the things in Las Vegas that have reviews, pictures etc
    Have Fun !!!

If you are into buffets, you have to go to Bacchanal inside Cesars Palace. Hands down the best buffet you will ever go to as long as you are willing to dish out the 60 dollar entry fee. I go there every time I go to vegas without fail. Secret Pizza is also a great spot for lunch. Its at the Cosmopolitan and you will have to ask for directions on how to get to it as the name has a lot to do with its location within the hotel. Wahlburgers wasn't there the last time I went and I am not sure if I will go as I am sure it will be a zoo next time I go. Pinks Hot Dogs at Planet Hollywood is pretty cool for a lunch too. The buffet at The Wynn is pretty good too. I go to Vegas a lot. :)

Finally! Got some attention - Thanks everyone for the help!

We are staying at Mandalay Bay. We want to eat at In-N-Out for sure.

We have been told we have to do Hoover Dam so we were planning on renting a car and doing that one day. Hopefully getting In-N-Out Burger that day. We also want to see the fountain show at the Bellagio. Eifel Tower sounds cool, probably won't ever make it to Paris so that will have to do

I love buffets but I feel miserable after because I eat my money's worth. $60 would be hard to eat, but I know I could do it...but do I really want to feel like that in Vegas? It's going to be like 105 degrees :bananadead:. Secret Pizza sounds awesome. I'll try to find it

If you rent a car, be sure to pick one up using the airport shuttle. It's so much cheaper than just renting one at the hotel... We did a shuttle from the hotel-airport-carRental and back. Saved several hundred denaro. Worth it!!! We were there for like 7 days so we didn't have a rental 100%. Just two days and drove the hell out of it.

You shuttled from the hotel to the airport, rented a car. Returned the car and shuttled back from the airport to the hotel?

I was going to über/cab from the airport to the hotel and then get a car later (didn't really plan on from where). We didn't want to have to worry about parking/etc if we had a car at the hotel. We'd probably only rent it to drive to Hoover dam and back and then return it :notsure:

Yeah renting a car at the hotel will break the bank. Just get a car from the ap. Now keep in mind, I was there for 7 days, but on our trip to the grand, we did it in one day. I did take route66, just to say I did it, but hammered it back partially on the interstate. The new highway at the dam wasn't finished then, but I'm sure it is by now. Should make for easy travel.
