Amargosa? Yes, I've been to AMARGOSA! It's Dumont x 0.03675. Kinda week but could be fun in a truck. Only been on my bike and quad.

My last truck was strictly 4x2 and my tacoma is unfortunately a 4x2 however its an O/R so it has the e-locker, that being said what are some of the advantages of an e-locker over 4x2, if any? I know 4x4 is better and i'm sure i'll get it on the next tacoma...or tundra, whichever i decide on at the time :D Just want to know so I can not only know what it does but have somewhat of an idea of what my limitations are. I mean I know it locks the differential to distribute power to both rear tires but is that it? Thanks guys.

Basically your truck is just as capable as any other 4x4. Most 4x4 trucks have open axels so even in 4wd only two tires are driving. 1 in the rear, 1 in the front. The only advantage is the front tire having traction because it's got the weight. I've heard of the locked 2wd tacomas going to some crazy places. Just drive it and learn your capabilities from experience. Always go with someone so if you do get stuck there's someone to pull you out. Knowing how to drive also helps. I had a 2007 2wd without a locker. I took that thing places I shouldn't have. I never got stuck.

Right on, so basically 4x2 with a locker puts power to both rear wheels whereas 4x4 puts power to one rear and one front? I mean i can see how that is better since, as you said, most of the trucks weight is in the front. Makes sense. Maybe i'll just keep some bags of concrete in the bed when if i offroad. lol, just kidding. Thanks for info though, maybe i'll just test the waters with my dirtbike before takin the truck :)

Is there something wrong with me because I don't possess the knowledge of what an e-locker does exactly?

It's better ask now than pay $600 for a tow truck to get u out of somewhere ur stuck. Or leave ur truck on the trail n then have insurance pay out 10K for repairs.

It's good to ask questions if u don't know. Knowing is half the battle! G.I. Joe!!! Lol

On a side note, an LSD operates similar to a locker except that the LSD will eventually slip when too much load is on tire(s) where as locker is constant equal power to both wheels. Unless u snap the axles or drive shaft = ride alongs = road head LOL jk. Right Carlos??

Strive for excellence, whether it be assholeship or another endeavor. I'm just saying
