    I'm gonna get a HAM. I got my CB from Petro. They have a mail-in rebate on the Cobra DX19, smaller and better for in our little trucks.

    Anyway, the HAM. They reach further and most monitor them so there is a better chance of getting help if needed. Some you can also tune into races and race teams talking to the drivers.

    i got the cobra 19 from walmart when they use to sell them for $30-$40. then the fire stick antenna, mount and cable i got at the truck stop on craig and 15.

    the fj crew took a 2wd up there so it cant be that bad and my buddy told me theres bypasses and go arounds for most of the tough shit.

    im down. sundays usually the perfect day for me to go wheel. just let me know a week or 2 ahead.

    so as for a CB radio, will a regular "walkie-talkie" type work just as good? i mean if its just the radio frequency can the walkie still pick it up? i dont wanna have to commit to a whole cb system that i'll be using maybe once or twice a month ya know

    There is a hand held CB not sure if still made but they did have 1

    i think a hand held cb radio would work but you need an external antenna for it.
