Not really an option. Takes too long and can't control c-spine in that situation.

that is true. u could just flap the roof. but the guy was showing us all these vehicles and posts that couldnt be cut with tools. even showed us a broken cutter and the piece it broke on. but it was like a 2011 vehicle tho. we r doing the hands on tomorrow so i should be able to get some pics or videos.

You could take the inside of the roof off with an air chisel too. Bypass the outer reinforced area. We carry them, don't know how many other dept's do though. Personally the only thing I've used out of the air kit is the ratchet to rotate my taco tires. Only taking the lugs off of course. :)

Not to mention with modern power seats it's far to heavy and cumbersome to take it out. Lets be honest. The dude is drunk. He's either perfectly fine or shot 100 yards out the side window face first into a tree. Take the time, do it right. KED is the way to go here, IMO.

How are you going to manage c-spine with 4 people trying to move a seat and someone holding c-spine? Or 2 people even if the seat is unbolted? I think it's a bad idea any way you look at it.

didnt read previous answers but id pinch the fender if needed and pinch the very bottom of the A post then jack the dash using the man killers (big honkin spreaders) or use the large ram to roll the dash

sometimes if the cutters wont work a sawzall will, adapt and overcome as needed in your situation, every veehicle extrication is different and your first try may not work, but the key is to always look at the whole picture and overcome the obsticals you may find

    wont work. see Medics response.
    KED is fun. :D

Sawzall is nice! I have a bunch of the rescue blades for mine at the house. Works great. We used the sawzall quite a few times also.

The worst extrications are when the car is on its side or upside down, in a ditch or in between trees... seemed like most of the drunks we had that needed cut out, managed to put the car in the most difficult place.

it depends on the dept, but we found that if you have a rescuer that is small enough (IE, me) you can cut a hole in the floor board and ea=ither flip the seat up or try to get a hole big enough in the floor board using the inside rescuer as your eyes to fit a back board and extricate the victim, a K-12 is excellent for for cutting floorboards but always have someone watch for fire and you may have to spra a lil water because carpet catches fire easy, ill see if i have pics

found a pic of sending the small guy in the car, couldnt find the other

and before someone harps on the lack of PPE it was 110 degrees that day, everyone cutting had to have appropriate ppe including safety glasses

This is the jig I was talking about last night. You place it in the door of the vehicle against the back section of the door and you have a solid support for your ram.
