I spoke with one of the vendors about running 885's in the place of eibach coil's and they said they don't recommend it and the shock wouldn't be covered under warranty if something happened to it? Does anyone have any experience with this? If the shock is set at 0 there shouldn't be any issues. What is the deal with this?

How much more expensive are the eibach's? There may be your answer.
885s set at 0 will give you roughly 2.5 in lift.

I dont think running OME coils on a bilstein shock will void the factory bilstein warranty.

They are blowing smoke up your ass.

Bilstein has no affiliation with any particular coil, and their warranty is a factory one...so you wouldn't even go through the retailer for the warranty, you would send it to bilstein.

afe pro dry, weather tech floor liners,5100's on all four corners@ 0, eibach 620 coils. toytec 3/4" spacer driver/s & passenger/s, rear spring tsb w/toytec 1" blocks, 4runner sport wheels, in channel vent visors, 1.25 spidertrax wheel spacers on the front, Wet Okole's, smity tow hook.
I looked into this before pulling the trigger on coils, and from what I read Eibach's are the recommended coil for 5100's (thats what I opted to run).

I'd just buy your coils else where if it is a issue. There are plenty of members running that same setup.

Yea I got the same message when I called a few vendors. So I bought the parts separately and installed them myself. No troubles. Got the 885's and 1/4" spacer from toytec and 5100's from DSM. Rebuilt my leaf pack to fit the RCD B110 rear billies. Then I saw the 5125's. They said it is not right for warranty reasons. Unless there is proof that this setup causes major failures in the shock I see no grounds for them not to warrantee it. That is my opinion.

That's odd..maybe he meant to say the 885's weren't necessary designed for the 5100's...but they work perfectly fine with them without voiding the warranty..

Interesting. I saw another thread yesterday, someone was told the same thing by toytec. I would like to hear what they have to say about the warranty or why they are not recommending that setup now.

Technically, I believe Toytec is correct. Eibach coils are meant to be used with 5100's and OME coils are meant to be paired with Nitrocharger shocks. No vendor is going to tell you that mixing and matching parts from different vendors is a warrantable situation, they are just covering their ass. That being said, there are plenty of people running OME coils mounted on 5100's without any issues.

I think they said it will cause the shock to over extend or bottom out...something like that.

Ya it happens to some. 5100s are over 1" longer than nitrochargers though. I call it "when goes over speed bump clank"

So if they are over an inch longer what is the problem? Maybe it's from 4 banger access cabs?

As long as there is no preload added to the 5100's, you'll be fine, and the warranty should remain.
