I was in Castleton when it hit, wasn't too bad there. Sucked when I tried going to my buddies in Clarendon and Shrewsbury. Drove down to Cuttingsville, 103 got beat to hell, so did 7.

6spdtaco, check out the Rutland Herald today. Think you'll recognize 1 of the construction workers that got saved from a flash flood yesterday. Was down workin on the Rt. 7 bridge by Carrara's, 4 inches of rain in an hour, they had to get lifted out by a helicopter.

That was Bobby!?! Holy crap. He would get stuck under a bridge in the middle of a river. Glad him and his co-worker made it out.

It was all the rain, not the wind that overwhelmed them.

I'm no meteorologist; but I'm pretty sure you can't make a blanket statement the stronger a huricane gets on the Saffir-Simpson scale, the more rainfall it will produce.

For instance, quoting NASA....Tropical Storm Muifa

"Muifa's highest rain rates occurred when it was still a tropical storm, but were also high when it intensified to Category 3 and 4 as it moved north. This observation shows that strong typhoons and hurricanes in terms of wind speed do not necessarily produce more rain than tropical storms."

VT had something like 10" of rain in about a day and a half. The storm practically stalled over VT and continued to dump rain.

Hurricane Katrina put 15 in. in S. Fla in 30 hrs. == + 15in. in a day and 1/4.. not saying you folk's did not have it bad but think 1/2 per hr. for 30hrs nonstop... Jim

There's a flaw in your logic, your not taking into account regional demographics like elevation and ground composition, etc.
