@Jeffch did you ever get your emergency brake housings replaced? I'm trying to be proactive with mine. The dealer already told me mine were cracked and want $$$ to fix. My friend who works on cars, rebuilds cars, is trying to understand what is cracked. Any other input is appreciated. Tia

    Hi Judy!
If your ebrake holds the truck I would wait!
I’m a manual with a remote start so neutral is used a lot in winter.
The fittings that go into the backing plate break when the cables seized I believe. Cables come with the fittings. My local guy that did the work got me oem cables and changed a rear seal for like 460$. Some aftermarket need brackets to be reused so oem with brackets in place made an easier job for the one doing it. Glad I didn’t do it but I did go over his work and found the ebrake grometts not seated coming into cab.

Thanks Jeff! Yes my friend is obsessed with figuring out what the toy dealer is talking about lol. My ebrake still holds for inspection and will follow your advice. Hope life is good for you! I'm selling my place in SoBu and moving to the NEK Island Pond area. Tired of taxes here in Chittenden County & housing market is red hot. Contracts are in place now a waiting game.

Yea Vt is getting pretty expensive.
Now the kids are out and doing well I’d like to move out.
    Have your mechanic look here.
If they can be pulled away from the backing plate they are broke!

    Are you buying or renting?
Northeast of Burlington best places to look are Westford, Fairfax, Underhill. House and rent prices are somewhat reasonable along with taxes. Jericho taxes are insane. Anything within Chittenden County is stupid expensive. Rents are expensive. There is an affordable housing shortage so you are smart to look 30-45 minutes outside of town. Other options are Richmond, Huntington south on I89. St.Albans, Georgia, Milton north on I89.
I lived in the Burlington area 41 years coming here for college. I just sold my house in South Burlington in less than a week without it going on the market. I'm moving to the Northeast Kingdom 2 hours away to retire.
Burlington is definitely where it's at but finding affordable housing is tricky. Best to network like you are doing.
Best of luck to you & your wife. Is her employer helping with relocation?

My wife and I bought our 1st house last March in St Albans. We love it up here. We are 5min from the interstate so it take me 25min to get to work and the wife 35min both work Burlington area. Taxes are what’s nice up here $3500 a year!

Depending on your hobbies I suggest Stowe Waterbury. Really not north but definitely east. Richmond is also nice Underhill of you want to be away from everything
