It looks like Stowe only got 2 inches of new snow in the storm that came through last night. Either way, I don't know if you'll need snowshoes or not.
The only tricky part on that trail is a sort of rock chimney just below the summit. Depending on current conditions (snow and ice) that could be easy or tough.
Otherwise, the majority of that route is in the trees and sheltered. You'll pass Taft Lodge, which is one of the Long Trail shelters. It's a cool spot to take a break, and you can get inside if you need to get out of the elements for a bit.

Thanks everybody. Figured i'd follow up with you all. We ended up changing plans and doing Hellbrook up and planned to do Long Trail down. Snow was deep, and blazes were difficult to see on certain parts of the trail. We veered off trail a few times and struggled to find the trail in certain sections. We made it probably 90 or 95% of the way up Hellbrook. We gained 2,000 ft + elevation but unfortunately did not make it to the summit by our turn around time. Micro spikes/ crampons helped and we didn't have snowshoes but they probably would have helped too

Can anyone recommend a shop for an alignment somewhere in the general Burlington/Middlebury/Waterbury area? Just a stock SUV - no lift or anything special. My mechanic didn't have any place to recommend.

I've used Vermont Tire in Montpelier (they also have a Burlington Location), but that was free with my tire purchase. There's also Town Fair Tire in Williston https://www.townfairtire.com/inform...l-alignment-specials-and-services/index.shtml, but I've never been there. Other than those two, you'll have to find a shop that has an alignment rack.

I’ve used Baileys spring shop in Essex jct.
They do big stuff but also do little trucks like ours. Reasonable and a true alignment using all adjusters. Good old school shop.

I had a lifetime with townfair or whoever is was before them. After watching them use the clutch disconnect button and start my truck in gear launching it against the parking brake.
I walked over opened my door told the kid to get the hell out and was leaving.
Manger who ever he was stopped me and says he didn’t know it was in gear wtf really?
Long story they are idiots and I never went back.
Baileys said they were not using all points to get a really good alignment just ahhh close enough.

Hope everyone does well during this Coronavirus ordeal.
Funny how it takes a common enemy to bring nations together.
Who would have thought that you couldn’t get toilet paper from freakin Amazon?

    Best wishes Vermont!

I have not dealt with them personally.
They are ok I use Handys in St. Albans.
I’ve had problems with handys like people I know have had problems with heritage.
But they both seem to be better than a lot mentioned on the site.

    @vssman
So I got a buddy at work who travels to CT seems he does it often.
I could ask him if he’d do it.
I could do the deal for you and have him transport it. If not we could get it and figure out the details later.
