    Hey Vermonters!!

    In paticular - Waterbury VT.

I'm on a hunt for a special beer from Alchemist Brewery. Heady Topper double IPA.

I'm from southern PA and my husband is a hoppy IPA guy and this is one beer that he dying to get a hold of. I heard they only brew this during certain times of the year, but their website appears like they brew it all year but only to local establishments and very rarely in cases.

We thought about planning a 'brewery' trip thru out New England, but Waterbury is really up north and we're just not sure how likely we could get up to that area.

I'm not even sure what I'm asking....Does anyone know how I could get my hands on some (being from PA)? How far south do they distribute their brews? What would you recommend? Any brewfests up in that area next summer? If they only serve to restaurants & pubs, where's the beset place to get it and what time of year?

School me on the unknown. Can't hurt to ask right? THANKS!!

It is only sold in the Waterbury area. If things go right I may be living out there by Valentine's Day and my family lives near Allentown so we might be able to arrange something. The other option would be take a to VT

so i know i will be getting 20 different answers to this, sort of like asking what the best beer is but here goes. I will more then likely be getting transfered to VT and living somewhere between Waitsfield and Stowe. I was wondering what navigation app people are running out there. I currently run gaia and it seems to work out in CO pretty good yes it misses some roads but i dont think any program will have everyone on it. I want the app to also be able to run stuff for Canada

    thanks for the help

a good one to have in VT is Avenza PDF Maps... VT put out PDF maps of the whole state with updated roads and trails which you can use with the program... http://vtransmaps.vermont.gov/mapsftp/current.asp

what's nice to is you can highlight routes on the PDF before transferring them to your device for reference as you go...if the device has GPS, then it'll show you where on the map you are...

i'm still searching for a good overall program tho that'll give me topo, roads, tracking ability and ability to load GPX files...aerial imagery would be a great bonus as well as a heads up for elevation and heading

That's what I thought.... A bad time to try and align a vacation to a brew schedule huh?

No worries.... Probably a trip up there and pray they're brewing it at that time. LOL

    Thanks!

Went to law school in VT so of course I drank a lot of heady topper. They brew it all the time, not sure where you got the info on them not brewing it year round. In terms of restaurants there are only a few that serve it. They have it at the Prohibition Pig in Waterbury, and Positive Pi in Montpelier. In terms of stores not many get it. The Hunger Mountain Co-op in Monteplier gets a shipment on Fridays. It generally only last a couple hours before it gone.

It's not sold outside of Vermont. (Legally)

    Hope that helps.

If you go to their website they have a link with the delivery schedule. Be at one of those places early.

The Alchemist brewery (heady topper) and Hill farmstead brewery pourpously keep production down so demand stays high.
They are both great brews but I like what Fiddlehead Brewery does with both their IPA and double IPA'S (second fiddle and mastermind) AND you can get them a whole lot easier.
I don't like having to be part of an underground or hipster scene just to get good beer.
I'm a local small town bar owner in Northern Vermont and Fiddlehead is the only brew made available to me amungst the 3.
Boo heady topper and hill farmstead!

And fiddlehead makes delicious beers, often overshadowed by the Alchemist.

    Hey Janster,

I would definitely suggest trying their "find heady topper" website. I went looking last week for some friends in RI and found that Burlington's Pearl Street Beverage gets deliveries on monday's I think but had 5-6 cases (6, 4packs per case) left on a thursday afternoon. I would definitely suggest Grabbing a growler of Zero Gravity if you're going to be in the Burlington Area though. The GreenState Lager and their IPA's are my favorite beers right now. You can find it at the Burlington FlatBread in town or at their brewery showroom down the road in South Burlington(2 minutes away).

heads up though on the heady topper - there is another version "Focal Banger" From the Alchemist and is a single hop IPA sold only to restaurants and bars.

Honestly, I feel like HT is overrated. There's plenty more brew made in VT that is just as "good" and if not, better. Like Hill Farmstead or 14th Star.

heady and SOS are smooth for an 8% brew..that's what draws me to them...the price tag tho hurts the wallet

good thing about this area tho is the variety of options...always good to switch up the choices every week to keep things fresh

    Funny story:

I'm sure I'm not the only one who gets slightly "giddy" when they see a sweet offroad taco in their town. So I was driving down to South Burlington on saturday with my gf last week to drop off a rent check and we were talking about off road mods and she asked me
"why do you need these mods...blahblahblah... it doesn't matter... blah blah blah?"
I answered confidently "because, it would be freakin sweet."
.... the conversation continued and I was berated for wanting to spend $ on such a stupid idea.

I then spotted a black 4dr taco (very similar to mine) but with offroad bumpers, lights, a winch, sliders... the whole nine yards.

I slowly creeped by and she stared at this awesome looking truck. I didn't say anything, just sat there as she admired the armor and lights.

As we round the corner she turned to me and says "I like his truck better than yours."

Hey all! I'll be placing an order for a new 2016 DC TRDS within the next month or so. I live in the Burlington area. Anyone have any dealers and/or salesman to recommend? So far I'm not impressed with Heritage Toyota.

bought my '06 across the pond in plattsburgh back in may 2006...not sure how pricing would compare between there and here...but maybe worth looking into?
