Is that what vehicles treated with the CRC application under the Limited Service Campaign E0D should look like after 1.5 years?

    From the vehicle service records:

I don't think you have to stress. When this gets up to a decision maker, your going to get a new frame.

You did good with pictures. Verbal promises are BS unless it's on paper. Then you have something to refer to, when talking to someone higher up service manger, district office, or lawer. I don't think I'll be an issue as bad as those pictures are. Not even sure why they made a cut off date of March 31, 2016?

My point....a three year old vehicle around here doesn't look like his 06...not as nice. My 05 looks like ass in comparison.

And yes, for whatever reason (really, the rest of your truck looks new in comparison to mine) number 20 is seriously ugly. Go yell at that dealer!!

Based on what I saw in this thread when the frame rust campaign first started, the end result of the coating can be pretty inconsistent - some dealers/techs are more sloppy than others: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...aign-for-corrosive-resistant-compound.329708/

If for some reason you can't negotiate a frame replacement, the repair isn't too expensive. DMZ sells a doubler/gusset kit for $110. A repair shop just need to jack up the engine to its normal level, clean up the cracked area, and weld them in. http://dmzfab.com/product/tacoma-motor-mount-gusset-kit/ Of course, towing and replacing any damaged engine compartment parts add to the cost as well.

Very appreciative of all responses. Thank you.

    Update:
NM dealer forwarded their evaluation to the Denver Toyota rep yesterday. They said the frame has many more areas of seriously unsafe corrosion. They also said they "would not" drive the vehicle "even if [Toyota] won't replace the frame." Didn't love that. Probably a smart CYA instinct on that service manager's part ... but still feeling uncertain what's ahead here. And I wouldn't drive that frame anywhere again ever - the mount crack got worse in the 1/4 mile to the dealer lot.

KenLyns I like the way you think ... I generally like to solve my own problems directly! That said, I would not trust an inch of this frame at this point. It would need a full stripping and patching. And gussets everywhere o_O. I've done a frame up rebuild on a Jeep CJ-7, but I don't really have the time and resources to do that here unfortunately :(.

I called Toyota Corporate ... was assigned a case number and a two-day callback.

No updates from either VT or NM dealerships.

Yikes, that frame is definitely frightening.
I'll tell you what would really worry me about that one: lawyers. I'll probably work out fine, but consider that the motor mount problem on the 05/06 is distinct from the RUST THROUGH problem on the 05-08. If the motor mount problem is no longer covered *separately*, they may try to weasel their way out of the rust-through problem and leave you stranded.

But like I said, you'll probably be fine. That frame is so bad, that you definitely deserve to be helped with it, and they should recognize a very strong chance of MEDIA ATTENTION if they don't.

Subbed for outcome, that is a scary looking rust collapse there. Best of luck w/ new frame.

I can tell you that, based on those photos and having my frame recently coated, your frame has not been sprayed with the CRC. Mine was done in early October, it is a super thick gunky coating that is still sticky over three months later. It gets all over my clothes and skin when I get under the truck. You wouldn't be able to see the rust through it if yours was done. I wish you the best of luck. It is hard to believe that they're giving you flak about the frame with the recall going on. It is the quintessential representation of why the recall was made in the first place.

Come on now, I think the OP is overreacting. A new frame? Really?

    UPDATE:

Visited the truck today ... up on the hoist ... frame is straight up rotten. NM dealer said there is no way it is safely driveable at this point.

NM dealer is generally pushing it off to Toyota corporate in Denver who is, in return, offering no coverage at this point. NM dealer is putting in good faith efforts without being optimistic at all. The service manager is interested in the 3/14/2015 email from my VT dealer salesman saying plainly that have a 10-year rust-through guarantee. I will be forwarding that to him tomorrow.

VT dealer is trying to wash their hands of the whole thing and say there is zero coverage after the CRC treatment in 6/2014. I am going to have a very serious conversation with the general sales manager tomorrow. Astonished no manager has offered apologies or any other proactive anything at this point. The only reason I kept this truck after the bumper came partially off on the highway while towing  and I expressed high doubts about their inspections ... is because the salesman said plainly that I had the coverage for the frame treatment. Otherwise I would have driven it right back to their doorstep and washed my hands of the truck.

Heritage Toyota in South Burlington Vermont is NOT backing, in any way, a clear statement of coverage made in writing by their salesman. This, after the vehicle already had a serious safety issue that was fixed under emergency conditions. Within a week of purchase based on their reputation and 160-point Quality Assurance Checklist.

Toyota corporate is not rushing to update me on anything. Somewhere in the mix, I did get an Toyota Corolla from Enterprise rentals that NM/corporate is covering. But that was made to feel like a consolation effort and in no way an indication of progress on the frame.

I'm calling lawyers on Monday morning. And flying to Vermont on Tuesday.

Not impressed or optimistic at this point.

I debadged it, had to work a whole bunch and put on a K&N in time to deploy. Now my wife controls the money and hopefully I have enough when I get back to get her washed. Soooo... mods are in progress?
