Yup. That guy. I would take his help right now for sure.

I happen to have a particular set of skills that involve not giving up. And I will shake every single tree I find.

    Solid recommendations. Thank you.
That said, I feel very little faith as the parties involved are all triangulating the blame away.

Flat out astonished by the lack of responsibility demonstrated by Heritage Toyota in South Burlington regarding the sale of this Tacoma.

It's confusing as the dealers don't bear the brunt or cost of this, if fact they get paid very well to remedy the problem....
Unless in this case they are going to get bagged for saying they coated the frame and didn't touch it and still took the $$ from Toyota (?)
Your pictures don't lead me to believe it was sprayed in 2014. As a poster above stated, it's a gooey, ugly mess under there for a long time.

Rest easy, you are going to come out ahead on this one.

Hey man sorry to hear about your truck. I had my frame replaced back in March and I had waited 6 months to have it done due to parts being on back order. My dad's truck got under coated the Oct/Nov before and like previously stated, looks nothing like your frame. If you do fly up here maybe we could meet up and go to my local dealer and see if we can get you some answers to some of your questions. My frame was not as bad as yours (I lost most of my pics I had of the problem areas) but I had a hole next to my cat (4 cyl and exhaust is only on the passenger side) and I had 10mm de-lamination sections near the leaf hangers and could fit my finger tip in a de-lamination area next to the gas tank. I had to play a couple games with the dealer cause initially they were just going to undercoat until I brought it back and made them re-inspect it cause I had been keeping an eye on it for the 5 month wait they had given me for undercoating.

I would bet this is the root of the issue with that dealer.

I think it will work out too. Big thing is the replacement frame by Toyota corporate I would say has to shake out regardless in your favor. IMO would report the initial place that sold it too as a heads up to other potential buyers.

I think this will work out in your favor. But you may need to Lawyer-up.

Not many guys move from Vermont to Gallup. What do you do in Gallup?

Subbing, sorry about this. Hope it turns out well. I really believe you will get a new frame. There is a pretty big pile of new frames sitting outside the service department of the dealer I bought from. They are actively changing them out here in CT.

No doubt you'll get a sweet shiny new frame - the first couple weeks with different people passing the buck is shitty but ultimately someone has to own it and take care of it.

I'd be equally concerned about costs once they decide to give you a new frame. Seems like some people get through it without spending a dime, while others are quoted thousands for replacing things that need to be replaced in order to do the frame, but are not covered by the recall. (other rusted out components).

    Good luck.

Not necessarily true. My 05 has a thick black coating that dried hard...my 02 Sequoia has a thick yellowy substance that remains sticky. When I asked the dealer they said there are different types that Toyota tells them to use....

If that frame was coated they did a really poor job on it. I bought my current truck before this whole frame replacement thing started and having already owned 2 other second gens, one of which I bought new that rusted like crazy, I was VERY picky about buying one again. I saw a lot on the market that looked terrible underneath, including a few in Vermont actually. I was about to head down south to buy one before I found my current truck. New England has lots of dirt roads and driveways that makes the whole road salt thing even worse. Something subjected to road salt plus constant dirt road use and getting parked in a dirt driveway where it can never dry out makes things all the worse. Point being it was somewhat foolish to buy one you could see was already rusty. Especially if you had any idea you were headed south. Would have been better to get one there. But you should be covered anyhow. My understanding is they extended the frame rust-through warranty to 15 years if they did the CRC coating before the deadline. But honestly yours doesn't look like it was coated to me. I was told if I refused the CRC coating my warranty would be 10 years. If it was in fact done and there are Toyota records of it (not verbal, actual records which you can look up with your VIN on Toyota's owner's website) you should be OK. If it wasn't done you may be pulling an engine and doing some welding. Which honestly I've done on 6-7 year old Toyota trucks in the past. It's steel. It's going to rust if it's not protected.

True. Fly medevac for a living, and enjoy the four-corners outdoors as much as possible!

Which is BTW not so cool in a rental Corolla :)

I'm from the northeast and know the salt issues very well. This was an extremely time-sensitive purpose. Your point is the reason my several days of buying this truck involved repeatedly asking "are you sure it's covered" regarding the frame. It was the only truck at the dealer that fit my needs. I could have cut the price in half buying on the street ... specifically went Toyota and specifically went to Heritage because I trusted their name and guarantees. Oopsy.

That is what happened to my 04 DC.
It rusted so badly the right front stabilizer pulled out of the frame.
Now I sit almost 3 months later waiting for the replacement frame.

You should be covered and being a 2nd generation frame delivery should be quicker.
    Good luck.

I would punch your VIN into the Toyota site just for kicks. You're not going to hear anything back on the weekend anyhow. If the service history shows the frame campaign CRC was done you should be good to go. If not better cross your fingers.

Great call! Hadn't looked at those. The online service records do list the ever-so-innocent letters C R C.
The extended dealer version of the records expand on that to state that "No corrosion, rust holes, or weak spots were found on the vehicles frame."

We're supposed to believe between 6/14-2/15 in Vermont and 3/15-1/16 in New Mexico this frame rotted to the extent now known???

I get my responsibility in my choice. I am so upset because it was completely based on promises the selling party chose to make to me.

I hope you get the frame replaced for free but if you dont, get a good lawyer involved.
