Upon further inspection and verifying with my mechanic neighbor. it's the return hose that's bad anyone replaced this before??

I mentioned "return hose" in post #20 because it's a common problem on Toyota 2GR-FE engines(6 cyl transverse- mounted used in 3rd Gen Avalon's and many Camry's, Rav4's; Sienna). On those cars - a people have reported using 7/16'' hose and others 3/8" hose as a replacement. 2GR-FE setup requires you to buy entire metal return line assembly just to get a relatively short length of OEM hose. Go to:

    http://www.partsouq.com

provide your VIN and go thru diagrams. See if Toyota has an OEM replacement for the 1GR-FE return hose. I use this site for parts number lookup only.

Went ahead and checked it out - curiosity. Not surprised. No separate return hose:

    Standard tow package. Tailgate lock.
Anyone have experience with Maval remanufactured racks? They say they're built for off-road durability and reliability. Considerably less expensive than new OEM parts.

^^^I put a maval in a 2000 land cruiser and 1 of the small hardline fittings near the steering shaft was leaking when I was done. I tried to gently tighten the nut and it stripped out and really started pouring:eek:

It sucks but there is a reason some parts are cheaper than others
