Heh, I'm on AD still, but I have a DD214 in a box somewhere, does this count?

I've been there... I got one after ending regular active duty, got called up to AD as a Reservist, then received another after terminating Reservist AD. It's been so long since I've looked at it, that I can't recall if the newer one included all the time, awards, etc. from the previous one.

Hey y'all, here's an update from the VA.

Secretary Shulkin, formally and officially, is going to scrap the VA's medical records and appointment system (called VistA) and adopt a version of DoD's (modified for the VA). Within the next 4-6 years there will FINALLY be a cradle-to-grave system where a member's complete medical record follows them from the moment they come on active duty, through the VA system, and into Medicare.

As it friggin' should have been 30 years ago.

I think that depends on the clinic or hospital. Some areas are over saturated, which is what the Veteran's Choice program is for.

All DoD is going to a common system, and VA is going to take a copy of that and build upon it.

It's gonna take years. The VA's system is like "VGER" from Star Trek The Motion Picture - it's an antiquated core surrounded by super high tech stuff to keep it going.

undoubtedly lots of stuff will be "lost". The civilian lady that copied my medical records when I was retiring "Lost" my medical records...I told her she was the last place I saw them, finally had a young airman (female) that was on top of stuff went up and found them in her office! I was just like wth!

Yeah. Which CG may or may not get, though. Seriously. We're still on paper unless it interfaces with tricare.
