American Cemetery above Omaha Beach. 9286 graves. Declared "American territory" but maintained impeccably by French citizens. Post card of the aerial view I cannot get, ground level view which is limited.

Vimy Memorial in France. Unveiled in 1936 on Vimy Ridge. The names of 11,285 Canadian soldiers with unknown graves are carved into this so that they will never be forgotten.

The cemeteries and memorials are well tended in France, Netherlands, Belgium etc. They have not forgotten. Sometimes I think we have.

    We will remember them.

Sgt. C. A. Seebach, 27th Canadian Infantry, NATO
Pvt. C.T. Norman, Bugler, 4th Canadian Infantry, wounded - Somme, 1916
Pvt. Wm. Rope, 173 Canadian Highlanders

My Uncle. Anzio (first Purple Heart), Liberation of Rome (his company was first to enter), southern amphibious invasion of France (Operation Dragoon), killed by artillery near Nancy, France. His Regiment were first enter Bertchesgarten (Eagles Nest) despite Steven Ambrose "Band of Brothers" movie depicting them entering first.
