Forgive me for starting another VF Tuning thread but I thought maybe a fresh thread for beginners with basic questions may be welcomed.

I've purchased the software, cable, and tune pack then went through all steps to be ready to flash my ECU. I really don't have any interest in tweaking my own tunes.

I received the tune files last night but can't seem to find anything that explains what each file does and was hoping for some help.

    The files I received are:

    Regular base.
    Regular base dump.
    Regular super FOB.
    Regular super FOB dump.

    Premium base.
    Premium base dump.
    Premium super FOB.
    Premium super FOB dump.

    Thanks.

these are octane learning tunes with two ranges, base is 87-90 and premium is 91-93.

FOB is Full Otto version B that was for the MTs some time ago and the name stuck.

dump refers to the OV dump tubes he sold for higher flowing configurations at the exhaust.

I am also on the fence for purchasing this, but don't have any desire to "tune" myself. Do they require you to send them a log, and then they adjust the tune and send it back?

they have prefab tune packs like you're seeing above, you do not need to tune yourself, you just flash the tune file you purchase.

Thanks. I'll read through that tonight.

So, the dump tubes are physical parts added at the manifolds? If so, I guess I can disregard those files.

What is the difference between the base and full otto files?

Yes. Ignore the DT files if you don't have them.

Base is a very good tune that should have come on the Taco from the factory. SFOB is a more aggressive throttle response.

So would it be correct to assume there are four (disregarding the down tube files) different performance levels then?

    Reg base
    Reg fob
    Prem base
    Prem fob

    Is that accurate?

    that's about right.

you can always try the DT tunes and if it ain't right just flash to a different file.

    Nice. Seems pretty simple.

I imagine most people start with the regular base and work their way up?

doesn't matter, do what you want whenever you want, change anytime. flashing is straightforward.
