VF Tuner Error

Totally new to this but getting this error when opening VF...any ideas?

 

Nevermind, I found on the OV site that I needed to email them with the Device serial # in order to register. That replaces the "key" process they used to have. Seems like that would be a helpful set of directions on a card with the unit for us noobs...maybe its just me lol.

 

I had to do this as well. Mat fixed me up in a few hours.

 

This is a wild process as a beginner. Customer support basically consists, "go on the forums."
Not a huge deal, but a little daunting and intimidating. The more I read the more I get confused and I'm just getting the hardware and software set up!

 

Yeah it's a little overwhelming at first, but very simple to use to do a simple reflash. I haven't gotten into messing with all the tables yet, but tuned a few cars using prebuilt tunes and it goes smoothly. Every error message you can have will come up on your dash when doing the reflash, but it's over in about 45 seconds and should stat up perfect afterwards.

 

Right on. Did you warm the truck up first? Also a little confussed about making sure I have the most up to date Tacoma OEM flash before I do the ToyotaWerx Tune.

I also haven't gone back for any OE flashes, but this should overwrite whatever they have while not preventing other updates or fixes. If Toyota's updates change something you can just reflash it again. OV flashes their test ecu's 100's of times without problems.

 

Anyone have any idea why when I go to Select Calibration File, the files are not there. But I can see them on my deck top ???

 

You might need to change the file type on the browser that pops up when you click select calibration file. Otherwise, you need to see if you even have any actual tunes.

 

I should clarify, I believe the basic VFTuner license only comes with the Stock tune Files. Have you purchased any custom tune Files from VF or otherwise? @Freeheelbillie

 

I got it figured out. It was an issue with not having the most up to date OEM ECU flash.
Once I had the stealership do that the YotaWerx BlackHawk tune went smooth.

 

Oh yes, you do need the most up to date TSB before flashing. Glad you got it figured out!
