vF Tuner installation guide & FAQ

No luck. I closed the program, restarted the computer, and used a different USB cable with the same result. Has there been a software update I need to get? I don't see any way to download an update from the program itself.

 

i also noticed that when I saved the new file it was saved as a .vfc instead of a .vft. Is this typical? When I attempted to change the file extension back to .vft I received another error message:

Will a .vfc file be ok too?

 

There was an update a couple days ago. Grab it from vftuner.com

 

vfc is the new format. Totally fine and expected. No need to try and make it vft

 

You need to DL the latest version.

 

Thanks guys that did the trick. The new GUI is nice as well.

Seems like the flashing procedure is a little different now so maybe you guys want to update that second post for anyone doing it for the first time.

might as well get use to checking for an update before flashing - the Help - update button may not solve your problem - go to VFT forum and bottom of Tonered signature for link. current 1.5.7.22222 soon to be 1.6.????. typical for software development and not to be unexpected. 1.5.7.22222 works fine. Soon the VFT home page will show a link to update and the most current version, maybe, just wishing.

 

You can update the program from the "Help" tab now but that wasn't an option on the version of the program I updated from

 

Well then they must have fixed that since this morning! No arguing here - I updated to 1.5.6.22??? Friday and an hour later the new version was 1.5.7.22222 and the update had to be done via an entire download as the update option did not work. words of wisdom - when all else fails just do the download if you want to be on the most current version. Glad you got it working.

What do you think is different? Still just Prepare, Select and Calibrate, plus the Learned Value Resets when the flash is done.

 

Can I use the Vf tuner to tune my friends truck if his VIN has already been unlocked?
He’s been thinking about trying the kdmaxx tune because I have told him how great it is.
I know he need to buy the file but I was wondering if I could do it with my vf tuner or if the vf tuner is tied to one VIN number

 

If his truck is licensed, yes you can flash it. When you click prepare ecu it checks license status and anyone with vF can flash a licensed vehicle.

Somewhat off topic but I’d assume y’all will know. On a 3rd gen can VF tune re-enable the cruise control function with an active CEL? Or is that something that cannot be changed.

Are y’all aware of any way to change this? So annoying that Toyota has it set that way.

 

All vehicles are like that now to encourage folks to get the issue fixed. No work arounds.

Is anyone else having issue with the newest software update? Open the app and all I get is license migration error. With the old software it didn't allow me to activate and tunes as well. Error code for that was, unable to connect to credit service
