That sounds like an issue for vF Tuner, but his support is limited this week.

For the new version on two different computers, I either had to allow it as a virus or set the folder for Controlled Folder Access.

Also trying to revert back to stock tune for a 2018. In the vftuner program files for the tacoma there are several files including mine, but when I try to select the base/stock tune it only has 1 file in there which is this picture here. What the hell am I doing wrong?

i am on this damn app multiple times daily right now and to do a flash & log cycle i need to fully uninstall & reinstall at every round. Tony, do you think deleting an .ini file like before could solve this?

Mine takes an eternity to launch since installing 1.6. I even uninstalled the old version prior to install

Hit the VFC / VFT drop-down at the bottom of the window.

I don't know, but you can delete all files including the odd one in the App Data / Roaming folder.

The license will come back. Can't hurt anything.

Yeah. It is not any faster than 1.5.7.

My 1.6.0 is loading lightning fast compared to 1.5.7 - I did have to contact Mathew to have him update my cable on his end though.

I also had to completely remove my antimalware to get it to connect to the internet. Worth it since this is all the laptop will really be used for.

Yeah I don't know why this one is so much better but it loads in ~10 seconds now. Was a 45 seconds or so before. This computer is old too but has a new M.2 drive. Maybe because I'm not a pro tuner?

Just annoying how much antimalware hates this. Flags it like a MF, even worse than 1.5.7.

I did, it still would not allow it. It's a corporate firewall and it's very invasive.

Just go into Win Security or whatever a/v that you use and whitelist / set an exception / allow those files / folders.

how to permanently disable Windows defender real time protection on Windows 10.

Go to the left bottom corner of your desktop and click on windows icon. The start menu will pop up. You can see a small gear, above the same windows icon, click on it. It opens a Windows Settings tab. Go to ‘Update & Security’.

Select ‘Windows security’ from the left side menu. Click on ‘Open Windows Security’. Choose ‘Virus& Threat protection’ from the left side list. Look for ‘Virus & threat protection settings’. Click on ‘Manage settings’. Turn the switch off next to Real-time protection option. Click on ‘yes’ in the pop-up window.

Go to taskbar search and type ‘regedit’. Click on ‘Registry Editor’ to open. Click on ‘yes’ in the pop-up window.

Open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE folder. Go to SOFTWARE folder. Look for Policies and open Microsoft. Right-click on the Windows defender folder. Select ‘New-Key’. Name it ‘Real-Time Protection’.

Right-click on the right side of the window and select ‘New Value’ DWORD 32bit value.( Name it ‘DisableRealtimeMonitoring’. Double-click on the file. Set Value data to 1. Click ‘Ok’.

Click on the Windows defender icon at the taskbar. Look for ‘Virus & threat protection settings’. Click on ‘Manage settings’. You can see the real time protection is now disabled permanently.

For those of you when you restart your pc and it turns back on, go to where you turn on real time protection and scroll down a little and turn off Tamper Protection. Change the registry again and it will stay disabled.

It is likely that most folks are not using a dedicated tuning machine and will want virus / malware protection.

Usually, it is just a hoop to jump through for big OV / vF updates. Other similar software requires the same kind of work to clear up.

for some this will help out, I know this has kicked me out of vFtuner even with controlled file access blocked in windows 10 .
All you have to do is go into regedit and change value data from 1, then change it back to zero and it is back on for protection in real time or when you restart the computer it'll turn back on.. I've been testing it out right now seems to be working just fine on my Toughbook and looks like this fixed my problem.
