    Question

I'm waiting on a master key to access vf

but after reading the manual on the vF ,

I would have to Register my Vin Number in order to get access to 04B13 Stock

Then can I Register the 2021 taco to get tune for that ECU ?

Just looking to but back the Stock tune , before I give the truck back in
but its seems like the older system to flash ECU is obsolete .

Correct. The old system is obsolete. You’ll need to use the new one unless you have the old files. That flasher hasn’t been used for a long time now

Yeah that makes a lot of sense

I have all the files for the old 04B12 but nothing for the 04B13 only the 91 octane

Thinking my best options like you mentioned updated to the 04b14

How are Tacoma members feedback on the 2021s with the vf tune?

Any Tacoma enjoy the tune on the 2021?

Actually now that I think about it..

just apply the TSB to your current truck. That will overwrite the tune and it’ll be running 04b14. No need to register or flash the stock file on that truck.

then you can use your credits to register the new truck and request the tune pack for its ecu

toyota has made improvements in the factory tunes, but they are definitely still lacking compared to the tunes

I switched laptops and don't have any of the software to use ovtune flash kit on my laptop..

Any way to get it up and running faster or do I have to rely on zendesk support? Messaged a week ago and no response

If you are on vf, just go download it and enter your master key

if you are on an older version (before vF), you’ll have to wait for zendesk

Hello, I have a few questions and i was wondering if you guys could help me out.

"I flashed once but now everything is grayed out and i cant flash anything
Check your current system ID and the system ID for your registry key. Most likely a windows update has been applied (which updated your system ID) and they no longer match. When this happens, you need to email SUPPORT@OVTUNE.ZENDESK.COM and request a new registry key."

Is there a way to prevent this^^^? I just got the Vftuner and I'm trying to prevent problems and to be as prepared as possible to have an easier time installing a custom tune.
I have already a tune installed in my truck so from my understanding my truck as the VIN# already unlocked and the TSBs are already up to date.
which brings me to my other question, do I still need to download tactrix ? or I wont need it until a new TSB come out for my ECU?

I'm thinking all I have to do is follow post#2 on this thread.

If you're new, then you can ignore that as it was for the old Flash Kit folks.

As long as you have you VIN Unlocked and your info in the License Information window, you're set.

TechStream (not Tactrix) still comes in handy for Customizations and such.

Just in case, there are updated Tactrix drivers in the vF Help menu.

System IDs are no longer necessary, everything uses the master key now

did someone else flash your truck or did you? Depending on when, it may or may not be registered and on the latest tsb

Yes I'm new to doing the tune myself, I will download TechStream then and Tactrix just in case.

Yes, recently I had someone else flash my truck and he told me that it was already up to date. my truck is a 16 and the ECU ID is 04B04 which according to the table is the latest for my truck I think

Yes. That is the latest, but 04B05 is in the wild on new ECUs from Toyota.

For now, you just need to get comfy with the vF software.

I'm so close. The VFtuner starts the installation & then an E13 error pops up. can't communicate with ecm. But earlier today it accepted the tsb update with techstream. any ideas? I did email ovtune earlier but they probably wont respond until tuesday or wednesday with the holiday.

When does this pop up? When you select calibrate ecu?

It is helpful to see the rest of the Flash Tool window. VIN masked of course.

It happens quite a bit. You need to either try to fully cycle the engine and ignition on/off 10 times, or go drive it for 10-15mins then try again. Either one of those should clear the E13 error and allow you to flash the tune.

Edit - wait around 10-15secs between ignition cycles.
