Just confirmed my truck is not registered. So then what the hell did I spend my 4 credits on after I erroneously clicked on the "Read ECU" button? @OVTune can I get a refund on those credits since I was following your instructions and the typo on page 20 seems to have thrown me off? I'm not trying to get one over on you guys, I just want to be able to tune my truck after spending 700$ on hardware and software.

Huh. What is the purpose for that? Is it now the vehicle is allowed all of the tunes instead of unlocking them per ECU or something? This seems like a major change that wasn't really announced, like I would expect to get an email telling me of such a big thing.

Did you happen to Unlock an ECU? Is one showing up in the License Information menu?

One note, @OVTune is not really posting on TW much. Posting up at the vFTuner.com Forum along with your order number will help to get your issue understood.

Credits per VIN was a major discussion point since the end of last year and was implemented in February, I believe.

I think I did unlock an ECU. I don't even know what that means.

And thank you for all the excellent advice dude. You're awesome and have restored some of my faith that TW isn't all trolls. I will post this up on the VFTuner forum.

You're welcome! Thanks for the compliments!

If you Unlocked your ECU ID, then that gives you the ability to view / edit the tune files. Since it was most likely 04B81, it is the latest ECU ID for your Taco. So thankfully, there was no waste. When you are ready, some simple edits can make a pretty big change in the feel of the tunes. There are some threads in this main 3rd Gen section as well as some in the TW Perf and Tuning forum.

Not sure how, probably due to my spot-checking, but I must have missed all of that. Guess I'll start my searching...

It is pretty well worked out now, but changes are still coming, so it might not be worth searching back.

As noted, the entire flash process is:

Prepare ECU while connected to the net.
    Select Calibration File
    Calibrate ECM

When you hit Prepare ECU, it will check the vF credit server and verify if the VIN is Unlocked or not.

How do I know if I have the Lite version or not? This is so confusing. At this point I'm willing to pay $80 just to be able to tune my truck...but I can't even figure out if I'm eligible to buy more credits.

@OVTune could definitely improve their customer response time. It took them a full week to respond the two times I've reached out, and that was just to get a Master Key and Tune Pack emailed to me. A full week to send me a link or number.

Where did you start from? Were you on Flash Manager and got updated automatically to vF or did you buy the $349 software / Tactrix bundle and a $390 Tune Pack?

The company is just one person, so it takes time.

Then you have a full vF License. You should have received nine Credits total with your order. If you did not, reply to your order confirmation message to note the issue.

I emailed them this morning (on the original order email thread) after getting guidance from you. I expect to hear back sometime in mid-June.

@tonered just one more question and I'll give you a break: if I do decide to purchase more credits how do I apply them to my Master Key? Does it involve an email request to Zedesk?

    No problem.

You order them on the website and request them in License Information menu in the vF software. Plan on two days for them to show up, but they typically arrive much faster than that.

In Version 1.3.0, Credits will be an automatic operation.

Sounds like they're moving in the right direction there with V 1.3.0. Again thank you so much for the help today. You've really been an asset.

Looks like there's a step missing in the instructions. This is why I was stuck initially. They omit the "Prepare ECU" step prior to selecting the tune file.

Good point. The Prepare ECU step is missing there as that is showing a different process than the Licensing steps on Page 20.
