I am STOKED to be able to have a drive mode, a sport mode and a gear lock mode WITHOUT having to reflash my truck 3 times!

    Oh, let me tell you...
I only trust a few folks here with their locked tunes, because I saw their history of edits and I have done the same edits. Also, I know the effect of certain edits on my truck and I have warned the creator of my findings.
Now I see other folks offering tunes with additional modes to idle, injection, vvti, etc. I look skeptical at those. Perhaps those are great tunes, but the supporting data they put out does not even contain advertised modes.
But im for the collaboration. From anemic 2.0 to this in like 6-7 months is a huge success.

I think the biggest update that will come in the future is VIN locked tunes.

I knew from the moment Mat mentioned the VF update was going to require credits to unlock truck vins, it was to protect himself and his product. If someone was flashing multiple trucks for a business, he would at least get a cut with the credits needed for the unlock.

If we are able to assign a file to a specific vin number then it would be great. The user could see what the maps contained and make their edits, only to be able to flash it to their own vehicle.

Downside is yes someone could copy the maps over to a new tune and then claim it as their own that way, but it would take them a few hours at least. Maybe that would deter some of the people from ripping off the people who made the tunes.

I remember when I reached out to Kreg to pay for a copy of Kruiser just to compare what I had done on my tune to his. I even sent him a copy of HnT (early VR) to see what changes could be made.

Well shit, didn't mean to create such a shit storm. For the record, my previous statements did not mean I was advising anyone to not lock their tunes or to not flash a locked tune. I simply voiced my opinion on how I felt things were becoming because of locked tunes.

@Mooseditty17, @PapaRee, and others, I do thank you for your contributions over the last few months. I don't hate anyone for locking down their stuff, and I hope my opinion doesn't cripple the relationship I have made with some of you.

In the meantime, I'm in search of what causes the rumble strip effect at around 45 MPH. I thought it was half lock but logging yesterday seemed to disprove that... Anyone have any leads on what it may be?

Depends what tune you have and the shift points. I’d be interested to see if that’s what my truck was doing on factory tune around the 3-4 shift.

Turned out to be bad ATF

I have heard people report this on here, but I don't have it.
Also, I never had the downshift clunk that some people reported in the past (@TWTaco did).
I think there is just different factors involved--mechanical, not tune related.

Some people have had clunks fixed in tunes. Others it’s fixed by a train and fill of the trans (I’ve fixed 3+ this way). Others it’s something completely diff like slop in drivetrain

Lol I did have someone mention to me a day or two ago that I could just do Uber or doordash to fund my time tuning and test at the same time. It was nice to have a suggestion of getting a second job on top of time invested in tuning.

Here is an slight uphill 0-60. If I can deliver in 30min or less Kreg should be able to in 5min:

The clunk was an easy fix for me, as I had it when coming to a complete stop. I actually talked with @PapaRee and @Mooseditty17 about it. There were a few tunes where downshift points were adjusted. I graphed out stock, 2.0, and the tune I was running at the time and easily saw the differences. Stock and 2.0 have the beginning of 3 to 2 downshift matching that of 2 to 1 downshift, whereas the tune I was running had a gap.

    Stock Toyota Downshift:
    Stock Downshift.jpg

    2.0 Downshift:
    2.0 Downshift.jpg

    Unnamed Tune Downshift:
    Unnamed Tune Downshift.jpg

Adjusted values to match stock/2.0 and voila! Clunk gone when coming to a complete stop.

The 2-3 and 1-2 downshifts are stacked. Split them up a couple mph higher on the 2-3 and it goes away. 6.999 and 9.999 does the trick for most.

I did the opposite, I stacked them and my problem went away. But yeah, I'm sure there's a limit to how far you can separate them, and 9 is likely within that limit.

Reading the thred and definitely liking a bunch of stuff I've read so far (less the stuff about monetizing on others IP).
Anyways, I've used MD's UD ($) for a few days, but it seemed bit too aggressive, so I've decided to reach out to and install OV 2.0 tune. Boy oh boy, it seems sooo much milder that UD! Makes me miss how snappy UD was... But l wait another tank full before possibly doing anything about it.
