Thanks for takin the time and explaining that. I do understand that stuff. Sorry I suck at the terminology and wording with this stuff. I might just be overcomplicating explaining something simple.

I just like to tinker. Learn. Problem solve.
I've been seeing some files shared that seem to be more optimized/dialed in than others. That some ECU ID's had more support and fine tuning and some with next to no support in this thread. So I wanted to try and find an ECU ID that had a bigger following. If an unlocked file was available, I wanted to compare with a base file and possibly attempt to port it from whatever ECU ID to 04B33. Would also help prevent me from really messing something up.

For software flashes and configurations files, I've always been able to learn more dissecting a modified file. While comparing it to the a base file over starting from scratch. Like submersing myself. Running before walking type thing. Just me and the way my brain works.

You can buy credits and unlock any ECU ID and compare to your hearts content...JUST takes credits! Most (if you bought the ovtune pack) compare with tunes that Mat already created, others compare custom tunes. What you need is a OBDII reader like OBDlink, Veepeak, or others and monitor any changes you make.

they are all similar. some have more maps than others. Pay attention to the axis on certain maps too -- like torque converter

The ECU ID I have seen the most unlocked tunes around for is 04B04. If you want to unlock another ID to have more user tunes to look at, that is likely what you want.

it’s pretty much dead now. People seem to have decided they’d rather sell tunes and quit sharing any helpful info

It's easy to miss but the newest version of vftuner lets you flash VFT files again. You have to select VFT in the drop down menu when you open the find file window. There is a screen shot somewhere around here.

When you select the file. On the right It’ll say vfc. You can change it to vft

I had the Valley Tuning "Valley Runner" tune installed on my truck yesterday. After very limited testing, the results have been extremely impressive... Major increase in acceleration, no more waiting for the 3k RPM "Power Band" to kick in, solid acceleration begins immediately off the line! The shifting on the highway has been predictable, quick and linear for the first time ever and gas mileage appears to be improving as well, but it's a too early to have a definitive result on MPG. I can't begin to describe how much of a difference there is in acceleration off the line...

I didn't want to commit to making the full investment into the vF Tuner Package without trying it out first, and so I opted to have a local installer install the Valley Runner Tune on my truck for now. Jeff immediately located a local installer in my area to install it for me within a few hours of my contacting him through his website.

Jeff @Valley Tuning (@uploadadventure)(@TermLimits) was very helpful in building a tune customized to my rig's specific parameters since running stock gears with all of the heavy steel gear I have installed, AGM Battery, and 35" tires is fairly unusual. Jeff jumped right in and customized it for me prior to the install, excellent customer first service, I would highly recommend Valley Tuning for anyone considering this upgrade!

Lor Moua (Local Sacramento Area installer) met me at a local store and had everything (Including the latest ECU version flash) installed in a few minutes. Lor was super friendly, helpful and extremely knowledgeable about installing the software into my truck, I would highly recommend him to any of you looking to have this installed in your trucks here in the Sacramento, CA area.

I will update this post after running a few tanks of gas through the truck and letting the computer re-learn the driving style, etc. It seems like it is only going to get better based on what I have observed so far...

I’m not Jeff! Just one of his trusted testers! But 10000000% recommend the VR tune.

Hey thanks for the review and I’m glad you’re enjoying it!

Yea it’s a bit confusing sometimes with all the guys involved in getting tunes installed around here. I make em, someone recommends them, another installs it etc etc.

If you ever change gears or tire size let me know or your installer and we’ll get you sorted out
