VF tuning collaboration and BS

Haven’t tuned in a while. Vf tuner says I need to update, currently in version 1.5.7.22222
Says I’m up to date. I believe the newest version is 1.6 something. this program never seems to work seamlessly. Virus protection is off. Am I doing something wrong?

 

Yea, download the most recent from vftuner.com.

I don’t think the updater worked below 1.6. It does now. So, after you download the most recent version, next time you’ll be able to hit update.

As far as I know gear lock is still not an option. What about modifying the downshift tables to all 256? e.g. "ECT Tow Haul- Downshift Schedule 3 to 4".

4lo default 5th and 6th, up and down tables to all 256 so why no do the same here but downshift? I'm not sure how to get back down once you've upshifted.

 

103K trouble free miles with about 60K on @Mooseditty17 M+W GL. Loved every minute of it.

Unfortunately, my transmission had to be replaced (thread here). NOTHING TO DO WITH THE TUNES just to be clear. I just got the truck back and the stock tune is such a dog. Loaded up M+W GL and still love it, BUT it's a really old tune.
On 5.29s w/ 33s. @PapaRee or @Mooseditty17 how much better is the KDMax tune?

 

It has been a while since I ran the Mild and Wild. The KDMax tune is refined and dialed in for Drivability. Smooth shifts and smooth throttle. Probably not as "aggressive" as the Mild and Wild.

PS. You will have to be on the new Vftuner to flash any of the new tunes out there.

Pirated software was mentioned to be one of the factors. Can't find any mention of the other reason(s) though.

 

Too much talk of people using pirated software in conjuction with VF. Mat wanted no part of it.

 

You can run gear lock by manipulation of ect downshift. Must be in SMode with ECT power on though. Regular ECT mode becomes useless.

 

still running the original "dump tube" tune from 3-4 years ago. Once he shifted the product to self tune, with more cost and kept changing the security requirements I lost interest in keeping up with it, combine that with him getting kicked from here and then shutting down his own forum the source of new info has basically stopped.

still happy with my truck, its 1000X better than stock, just get a little jealous seeing new posts about new tunes.

just asked for a download link for an updated version of the free vftuner software as I have replaced my computer since my last update.

there is no longer a free version available, I could get another one for $79 tho... no thanks

 

Hey guys - I have the software vftuner and dongle, and had a tune put on it, had it flashed back to stock cause of emissions - I guess the tune from https://www.StTTuneShop.com/ has issues with that idk. Anyways, I have put the tune back on (no issues). But what I am interested in is, the tunes that are on here for the "04B04 v2.0 Final - VFT" and that is posted on page 1 of this thread. I have a Volant CAI w/ Ram scoop, and my exhaust was replaced with a MBRP Dual exhaust, it's a (2016 TRD Sport, 3.5L V6 AT, dual cab, long bed). My goal is to just improve the overall performance and the gas mileage, I still feel like there is some gear hunting especially going up hills. Please let me know your thoughts, be helpful not critical, im not trying to stir any previous drama around the topic. I have looked at some of the forums about what maps to tune and change but I need a little more hand holding guidance ie a bread crumb to fully understand how to properly tweak. Thanks for your help and insight.

 

You can start with one base maps and do some data collection on CKLV and KFV.

The way it works is that your engine is constantly trying to push the limits of whatever fuel is in it. The ignition timing map hold value based on cylinder fill vs rpm.

On a perfect map, the CKLV would never change. Ignition timing doesn't scale linearly so if you change the octane of the fuel, the map needs to change despite the CKLV adjustment.

Connect you dongle and record CKLV, RPM, KFV, and I think fill or load. Drive around and look for spikes or dips in the KFV that result in the CKLV changing. To do this well, it will take a lot of time, and many flashes.

What's the benefits? Probably little to none.

 

Bump up you tire size in the tune by 1in or 2in. It will help with the gear hunting.
