I'd say you're getting pretty good MPG's with that setup. I get around 18 now with my M+W tweaks (stock 2.0 upshift points but M+W downshift points, same tip in). No added accessories to make my truck heavier, lol.
I'm pretty sure that's what did it, haha.
Everyone that has one installed beats me in MPG's. Literally EVERYONE. Sorry for the white girl-ness, but it's true.

Ah well that's perfect, I thought the 87 Oct tunes didn't really get more power with 93 since Matt dropped the whole octane learning thing, has that been reenabled somehow in VF?:)

I'm think I'm getting jealous of your @Mooseditty17 crush. When I said this ~6 weeks ago, you weren't having it.
    :pout:

Anyway, weird how CC would use a table with accelerator pedal as an axis when the accelerator pedal is meaningless.

Still would love to have that CC acceleration request rate setting.

Also, it seems there is a table somewhere that that controls the initial CC torque based on vehicle speed. e.g. if you set CC on level ground, it engages smoothly; but, if you set CC while going downhill it gives too much throttle. A minor annoyance; but, I'd rather it engage with too little throttle and adjust up than too much.

Yea, you’re right. I was just jealous, lol.

And I think I jumped the gun a little this time. I just got lucky that I have an old 2016 truck without all those new safety features (adaptive cruise, panoramic cameras, blind spot monitor, radar TSS on front grill, etc.) I don’t think this copy/paste trick will work with the 2018-2021 trucks. But mine is at least using the correct shifting maps on cruise control, so I’m happy!

I think the biggest problem with Cruise Control is the acceleration rate. It tries to accelerate too much for just a little incline. Being able to fix that would be awesome!

I was looking around all my 2018 primary shifting maps. I’m curious as to why compared the stock the 6 & 8 maps values are different while the other maps match the stock primary map. I’m guessing that could be the reason it gear hunts so much in cruise because the difference in the 6 & 8 maps. I suppose I’ll be a tester for the 2018 and see what I can find out.

I'm not sure how we didn't accept your thoughts on this prior. Sorry if I doubted you for any moment. You appear to be a very intelligent person indeed. It seems to be more of a labeling issue than anything. Acceleration shift maps control low 4 for crying out loud! Normal Throttle limits change the ECT pwr throttle tip in, and S Gear throttle limits only half make sense as they do S gear and Drive throttle tip in changes. :notsure:

I'm 99.9% positive the VF files are octane learning. Running Premium on a Reg file gets you more advanced timing, etc, but not as advanced as the Premium file will go. So Premium fuel on a Premium is still the best of the best to be fair.

Already jonesing to get 04b33 tunes to get off this Toyota shit tune. The TSB still sucks. To much torque converter bs. I forgot how much I changed until driving this again. I wonder if I have to buy another tune pack to get 04b33 files.

My theory is throttle limit. It's giving throttle, truck caps out and doesn't allow any more, CC continues to up the throttle to offset the drop in speed until it finally downshifts. Just my theory anyways. Seems likely with the "dead spots" in the pedal.

Correct. I’ve sent @OVTune this info over a year ago.
The normal cruise is set at one speed.
Adaptive cruise is set to another.
I forgot what it’s called exactly.

edit. Can’t find the email. But...
Regular cruise recovery speed is normal
Adaptive cruise recovery speed is fast

you can see the two speeds on techstream. Can’t change the adaptive cruise speed. I wish you could.

Yea, I actually PM’d with him about 6 months ago and he said he was about to put out an update in Vftuner for Cruise Control maps. I’m still waiting!!!

Anyone have the 2021 AT 2.0 files they’d be willing to share? I believe it’s 04C00 and 04C20? Not sure what the difference is between the two...

With the right throttle limits and up/downshift settings you can get rid of the "dead spots".

I used to live in fear of the 5 to 4 downshift on inclines/CC, now I don't even mind because it's a smooth shift now (i.e. same power before and after shift). Part of the problem is if you try to avoid the downshifts, you make them worse when they do have to happen. If you don't downshift until you are absolutely maxed out on power, when you do downshift you get ~1.5x the torque from the downshift; plus (perhaps) the additional power produced at the higher rpm.

appreciate everyone working on the cruise, adaptive cruise issues the 19+ has. that is the most annoying thing about the truck. has anyone figured out how to blend in, eliminate the 3500 rpm VTech YO! hit the truck has, to make it more smooth, linear, without having a violent tip in? the shifting, and the 3500 hit, are my only real gripes with toyotas tune/driveablity of this platform. I've noticed when cruse control is active and it downshifts, it will hang in the lower gear till you just slightly press on the accelerator pedal then it upshifts to higher gear. It does this on flat ground or topping over a step hill. The 2.0 tunes have helped this but still there. In CC truck downshifts when you bleed of speed or increase load so IMO the computer is compensating using speed (what the CC is set at), load increase (speed bleed off), and accelerator pedal set position. If you push the pedal too far down it downshifts again and goes like hell. Hopefully the CC tables will answer this.

    It definitely will.
The adaptive cruise is designed to be more aggressive to for some stupid reason. Worst programming ever.

Adjusting the ACIS will help eliminate the 3500 “open throttle” feel.

Others have reported setting ACIS to 3400 is a sweet spot to minimize surge. Mine is set at 3450. It is a lot smoother. @skidooboy
