VF tuning collaboration and BS

It didn't work for adaptive cruise (saw no difference on small hills/overpasses). I'll test regular cruise on the way home this afternoon.

I am not logging while driving right now, and for some reason, the logging feature in VFt does not see to work for me. I could not get any of the monitored parameters to come to life using VFt while the truck was running. Admittedly I have not had a lot of time to play with it. I flashed 2 different maps, yours and dave's and then had to go to bed. But I did try and make the logging portion work and was not successful..

 

Flashed DaCrusier onto my 04B04 last night. Drove around in CC and was pretty impressed at the difference over M+W. Any way to port this over to 04B31?

 

There is one available for 04b33. @dave82at made it and posted it a few posts back.
I'd update whatever truck you want to put it on from 04b31 to 04b33.
If you don't want to do that, I could probably make you one tomorrow (at work tonight).

Tried 04B04 DaCruiser 3.0 out here in the UT mountains. Really liked it on the flat highways along Wasatch front, super smooth and held 5th and 6th with minimal fuss at 65-90 mph. Problems occurred when I get into the mountains. It tries to hold 5th way too long going up steeper, longer hills, bogging down and then does a quick 5>4>3>rev to 5k>4>5>repeat thing. I can see how folks in flatter areas will love it though.

I modified the shift points for all maps for both upshift and downshift for 4, 5, 6 with the M2W settings. Overall this retains some of the smoothness of DaCruiser but shifts at better points for mountains. I’ll probably add gearlock back to it because I love GL on sustained mountain passes.

Nice work overall as usual. It did address my clunking during stops and the updated air-load maps seem to have smoothed some slightly rough edges. It’s a great tune to start with and tweak to personal preferences.

Anyone had any luck with a tune that works with catless dump tubes? I had a tune made by @Mooseditty17 with dump tubes accounted for but I still get a CEL. I thought I remembered reading on here somewhere that it was the same fix for catted as catless dump tubes.

Any info appreciated!

 

From what I remember, you have to change the values in the last two maps in VFtuner to 0 (zero).

 

That's what I tried... Worked for a guy with catted dump tubes, but not the catless

 

So when you get the CEL for a "Cat" issue you are officially running a "Dog" of a Tune? Pun intended. I'm leaving my Cat just like it is - one honest and real dog is enough to clean up after!

 

It would seem so! My dump tubes are catless, as is my life. Other people's cats are cool - but there will be no cats in this home - just a real dog (not very honest though - she routinely steals treats). And yeah, one dog is enough - I'm one of the few in my neighborhood that actually cleans up my dog's krapz.

 

I’ll post the tune once I get a few more miles on it, but I just used the latest M2W S (normal) values I believe. It doesn’t go into 4th quite as fast as I’d like on the climbs, but I’m not sure how you’d do that and not have it drop into 4th other times where I don’t really want it to.

 

I'm having hard time with the 5-4 downshift point for angles >35° and speeds between 65-75 mph. Below 65 mph the functionality is there. I've been fishing for the speeds in either direction, but with no luck. It seems, there is a different logic for high angles/speeds.
At the moment I can hold 5th up to 95%load on incline and speeds ~75mph with 100% unlocked tc. My goal is to downshift before reaching the load limit.
What are you speeds on those inclines?

 

Doesn’t the transmission get really hot at that load/speed when unlocked?

I don’t log much, use poorly calibrated butt-dyno and until this tune I’ve been using the gearlock function in situations you are describing for best results. It goes from 6>5>4>3 when I tell it to with gearlock.

 

I have 31 unlocked and 04. I can port it over tomorrow
