So i tried the gear lock tune the other day with another members edits in here- it's pretty good, but a couple things 1. Yes it will lock the gear you want, but it will max out at a certain rpm and pushing the throttle in more wont increase rpms or speed unless you shift. Is it possible to get full power range in each gear while staying locked? Or would that raise temps to an unsafe point or something? I need to grab an OBD monitor too so if anyone has any recommendations on one they love lmk.

specifically 5th gear? Curious because 5th has done this since I can remember.

I always say it depends. Personally if I drive trying to maintain somewhat decent MPG's it is more doable with your tunes to obtain 15 mpg(ish) with 35's and armor than without the tune. But since the truck is 1000x more fun to drive I am constantly driving it like I stole it and my MPG's are about the same (though after the first time I flashed I was even heavier on the skinny pedal and lost 1-2 mpg). When I bring the truck back east and my father drives it he somehow gets 20 mpg consistently, which I will never understand- it really is so individually based.

I do think it was just 5th and 6th now that you mention it. Interesting. Around town GL worked perfectly, but highway was frustrating. Any values someone recommends tinkering with?

It’s imbecilic for folks to think there’s no trade off with a tune. It’s pretty obvious lifted/weighted trucks see a “substantial” increases because of the changes, strictly stock trucks will lose 1-2 but with much improved drivability 19-21 mpg is still legit for the smiles...chew on that

@Mooseditty17 had the same problem in 5th gear when he was trying to increase 4wd lo speed. For some unknown reason, it has a max RPM/speed?????

Hello all! So I just purchased a tactrix kit locally and purchased the vftuner software as well as the tune package listed on OVtunes website.

I’ve read up on a few pages here and from my understanding these are user created tunes that can be flashed to our trucks (given its the right year, model, etc)? It seems there’s a bit of a learning curve learning all the terminology in regards to tuning. I have no experience with tunes or anything but I’ve been building computers and rooting/jailbreaking iPhones and androids since I was about 12years so I’m hoping I catch on pretty quick ;) if there’s any advice or helpful tips anyone can recommend to make it easier to get started that would be great! I’m currently lifted with 5160/6112 on 285/70/17 wild peaks regeared with 5.29.

The tune pack works well by itself.

But if you want some resources, check out some of the links in my signature. There's a link to a post with a file that @Stormpeacock made with common edits, then there's also a link to user contributed tunes (this thread here). Should be a good place to start.

MT or AT - ?? DM me if you are AT which is 04B04.

Pretty easy to make mods to base and other .vft tunes. No tune mod for suspension - Gears and tires are simple edits. Drive Train - Gear Size Diff and Gear Size Diff 2 (do not adjust reverse) and Tires are based on Radius (D/2) so use the tire size app to get this. Use Export to rename and save your file.

found a few ignition tables where the RPM limiter exceed the Table rpm limit. ?? might want to look at this too.

The ECU will just use the last available on the axis.

So lets say on the table it only goes to 5600 rpm. when the engine is spinning at 6800 RPM, the ECU will still just use the 5600 point on the axis.

Why is it on a Super FOB tune the Base Intake Valve Target, and IgnitionTiming Atkinson Compensation maps are the same as a regular 2.0 tune? I'm still trying to wrap my head around this Atkinson's cycle elimination. Any webinars coming up soon?
