I’m confused. Are there actually any authorized @OVTune tuners? Not resellers. Or is that some of the piracy you’re talking about?

There are Authorized tuners on OVTune’s website/forum. If anyone is advertising as authorized you can cross reference it there.

There also guys like me, @TWTaco @PapaRee who have bought the VFTuner software and use it.

I think that list you're referring to is a list that will have all the shops that have purchased the pro upgrade. If you don't own a business, you cannot buy the upgrade, last I knew.

My take on all this, is that @OVTune sells us the software, hardware, and the 'base tune' packs (which I def bought) and learned a ton from studying them vs the stock tunes. Played with them myself on my 04B04, learned a ton from @Mooseditty17 and @PapaRee, and you bet your ass I sent them some beer money early on, you guys are the shit. My background is software/mech engineering, virtually no hands-on engine mechanic work, so I'm coming at all this from a different angle than most. I've spent a bunch of quality time watching general tuning videos on youtube to learn more of the mechanic/tuning side that I don't have personal experience in.

I've unlocked almost all the AT ECUs thus far, so I'm able to port tunes to other ECUs, like the 04C20 tune I ported of an early Mild+Wild and put up here for free (still on the 1st post). I've never been sent beer money in return for that, but I honestly don't mind, I'm in this thread for the opensource love, not the money. My day job pays the bills, any tuning money I make all goes to mods for Atilla, my 2017 Taco Pro. Honestly, since a lot of that 04C20 tune was based off @OVTune 's 2.0 tunes (with all of @Mooseditty17 's M+W tweaks of course), I'm happy to request that @uploadadventure take it down, since I by no means want to cut into @OVTune 's profits from his hard work. Just lemme know, guys, I just did that to share the M+W love with the 2021 Taco guys, since @Mooseditty17 himself put his up and Mat hasn't asked him to take those down (to my knowledge), so I assume he's good with it... correct me if I'm wrong!

Whenever I try stuff on my personal truck and get good results, I'll port those changes to the other ECUs I've unlocked, which I'll in turn flash on other people's trucks for money, but I'm pretty sure that's the point of Mat selling us the VFTuner software instead of him doing one-off custom tunes like he used to (again, correct me if I'm wrong). Whenever I test out changes that @Mooseditty17 and @PapaRee send me to try, and they work, I'll incorporate those into my tunes as well, and it's probably about time I kick them some more beer money again as well. I've had a rough couple months so I haven't been able to experiment as much as I could at the start.

Idunno, maybe I'm thinking about this too much, but I respect the shit out of Mat for what he's done, and I don't feel bad about making money myself after investing $1700+ in his company, from the tips/tricks the guys on here have discovered (that I think they should be compensated for), and through the countless hours of work I've done myself.

That being said, there's a lot of talk of "piracy" lately, but I'm not even sure I understand how "piracy" is defined in the context of this TW thread or the VFTuner software in general. I certainly want to make sure we're all staying in the guidelines that Mat intended, but it's not like there's a list of Dos and Don'ts out there. I remember the dude who said he was going to try to crack Mat's software/licensing, and fuck that guy obviously. If someone is taking other people's tunes and putting them on other people's trucks for money without giving credit/money to the creators (or at least testing them FFS), then fuck those guys too. And I heard about people using Mat's logos without permission, and c'mon, that's a clear violation of basic copyright laws. I was once asked by someone if I was willing to send him the 2.0 Tune Pack I bought, and I politely declined, and told him to go buy it. Stuff like that isn't rocket science.

However, I think that maybe Mat should spell out in 5th grade english for everyone what he sees as proper/improper use so that we can all keep doing the open-source thing, but respect his idea of how we use the software.

Now that that's all out of the way...

I would be more than happy to check anything out and give feedback.

Exactly, I think this is the heart of this thread.

I actually started putting out feelers a week or so ago to some of the shops in Austin that I've heard might have Dynos. I would literally shit myself playing with one for an afternoon, but I feel like I'll need to watch a lot more videos on dyno tuning before I would be able to get my money's worth buying time on a Dyno.

I am currently using the Premium Kruiser 4 too, and will add that it shifts much more logically when using cruise control in hilly terrain now as well. It is my favorite so far!

    Thanks for the feedback!
I am also on my premium tune (for a few tanks now) and my mileage has been consistently 1-2 mpg higher (16/18) than my normal (14/16).
    How has yours been?
Is everyone else seeing better or the same MPGs on my tune?

I'm definitely getting worse fuel economy with the tune..... because I can't keep my foot off the pedal lol , but for real, it's actually doing really well and I plan on dissecting it to see what I can learn from it, definitely be sending you some beer money here shortly, thanks for letting me try it out!

I have about 2 weeks on it but it has been in the single digit temps and gas mileage sucks. But it is an impressive tune. Still owe you some beer funds.

I've been using @PapaRee new premium tune, it's peppy, get up and go... haven't had a full tank on it, but the power is definitely there. I'm most impressed with the power in 6th, I feel I can still have passing power in 6th gear versus being worried that my truck will downshift into 5th when stepping on the big skinny stick on the right.

    It's amazing.
