@Mooseditty17 if you end up porting it over to 04A61, I'd love a copy since I know a couple people with that ECU! I'm going to finish the 04C20 here within the hour, so I'll be sending that your way to have in your archives!

I haven't come across those yet in real life, but I'm locking them all as I come across them (assuming they're the latest version of that ECU, TSB-wise), so that I can customize them all in the long term.

I purchased the tune files and tune kit end of Oct, the tune kit/cable to be delivered Nov 13. Matt at Ovtune said I can get a system ID before I get the cable. I went to my account at ovtune and it said the order was fulfilled. At their tune instructions all I could find was the 3rd gen flash tool last night so I installed it to get the system ID, awaiting the registry information now. Is the vftune file a download also? If so where do I find it on their website?

It's a download that's found right on the front page of the website, at the end of the vF Tuner description: https://www.ovtuned.com/.

I have a 2020 A/T with that ECU as well. When I looked in the 2020 folder for VF Tuner I saw a 04B81 file. Does that imply that there is an update for 04B80? I also saw other file in there as well but they were not sequential with 04B80.

Also, if no one has created custom tunes for the 2020's what would be the process of porting those tunes for other ECU's for 04B80? Do I diff the custom tune with the stock 04B80 and patch the differences?

What’s a good tune to run for a cross country road trip? I’m currently using mooseditty’s latest one and I love it but I don’t think it’ll help me on gas mileage on the highway. Any that you guys recommend?

Imo that tune will work great. Just don't go crazy with your foot. 65 mph is perfect for me. Find your 1500 rpm boy

If you are on the most recent 3.1 Mooseditty tune, that would be the best. You will get good mileage in Drive and have ECT for hills or mountains. Just remember, we still don't have cruise control map access, so when you set cruise control, it is a different map and it sucks. It will downshift on the smallest of hills and climb to 5000rpm.

Is that "old school" cruise control, or the awful adaptive cruise control?

It is "old school", and adaptive. According to OVTune-Mat, as soon as you set cruise control, it activates a separate map that takes over. He did tell me that he was going to add access to edit these maps in VFtuner, but it hasn't happened yet. This is my biggest complaint with my truck. We have a great tune, but can't use cruise control on long highway trips without it downshifting and redlining up hills.

I meant adaptive in that it maintains following distance behind the car ahead of you. It's an 18+ thing. My "old school" CC works fine. Adaptive sucks, and always has. Used it one time on the drive home from the dealership 3 years ago. Never again.

When you say "works fine", do you mean that it doesn't downshift and redline on hills? If so, I want that tune.
Mine works fine to keep me at a set speed. It just does it with a jacked up tune map.

It'll downshift, but not to redline. Now, I live in central Virginia, and our "hills" are relatively benign, but it's not absurd like the stock tune was.

I agree, it is better than stock was. But I do remember being on one of the beta tunes and saying "wow" my truck went over a small hill and only downshifted one gear!! So I know it is possible. I'm sure when we get access to the cruise control map, it will be easy to fix.
