More pics coming soon. The install is coming along pretty well. Fabbed up some new parts, mocked up the system, and painted the mounting rails. I chose VIAIR after a friend recommended them since the compressor doesn't have to run all the time with the pressure switch and storage tank. He has an ARB compressor, and whenever he runs his lockers, the compressor runs the entire time. Also for a 2.5 Gallon VIAIR tank it's only about $65. for a 1 Gallon ARB tank it's $150.

On the other hand, the ARB tank is aluminum, which is obviously lighter and corrosion resistant. But Steel tanks will last a LONG time. I plan on putting on some 3M protective coating "tape" to protect it from any paint damage.

$1,700. Plus freight. At that price it better give road head and grill a perfect steak in addition to inflating tires and running air tools. Just IMO.

Oh it's complete overkill but super bad ass. I know someone who has one under his dually. It's huge and would not be a good fit under a Tacoma.

Anyone ever try air zenith compressors? They are slightly more expensive but pump more cfm and you can rebuild yourself if it goes out because they sell a kit. I've heard lots of good things about them but personally I've only ever used viair 380 dual pack

I have used dozens of viairs and about a dozen air zeniths mostly on air bagged trucks I've build for other people. About 7 years ago when the air zeniths came out they were all the rage. Out of the viairs I have never seen one fail when properly set up with a pressure switch and a way to shut it off in case the pressure switch fails. I have seen 3 air zeniths fail under normal operating conditions, for that reason I stick to viairs as they are tried and true.

As far as the oasis goes its kind of an industry joke. It draws quite a few amps and is huge. If you wanted a better option with the same amount of air most people run the York compressor off their engine drive belt. Same result but packaged much better without the electrical strain

    Btw op nice install

Awesome setup OP! I am going to be installing the same thing soon. I was wondering what your feedback is? Also can you put a spare back up there or is it moved for good?

@AaronArf has one in his rig, and has reported positive results, search out his build for more info.

I've been a slacker and haven't posted all the completed build pics. I'll try and get them up tonight. Cheers.

I know this is a very old thread, but my wife just got me this kit for Christmas (best wife ever) and I'm curious what your thoughts, opinions and tips on it are? Plus more install pics!

Ran the shit out of my Viair compressors in my Lexus.
    IMG_1462.jpg
I also had a plug-in Viair that was garbage though. It blew fuses almost every time I used it and one time in an emergency I had to bypass the fuse which turned out to be a very bad idea. :bananadead: :annoyed: Good thing it wasn't my truck. :anonymous:
