I bought my truck early June and I knew it had vibes. And it had aftermarket wheels "UltraMotorSports". I took it to a shop and they swapped out the right hub bearing, rack and pinion and ball joints and aligned it. Warranty covered it. And I still have the vibes. I balanced my tires. Then got new tires because the shop pointed out a ball in one of my tires. I can't shake these vibes. I've read the thread for 2nd gen vibes, and it seems pretty common. It's a problem between 50-70mph for me. The vibes are strong at 50 and weakens till 70. At this point i'm sure its my wheels. I've also have put hub rings in, although they said they didn't see any spacing issue. My setup is 2inch spacers and 285s/70/16. I don't want to say its my spacers? I can't go to the dealership with aftermarket wheels, right? I don't know which direction to go in. Should I just go into a discount tire and get new wheels and have them deal with it? Or does anyone know of any good wheels that fit well with a 05 Tacoma. Thanks for your time. Any advice will be appreciated:wave:

Wheels look like Ultra 187 "Mongoose"?

    Specs say:
    178-6883SB: 16x8 6x139.7 ET: 1
    178-6883SB+01: 16x8 6x139.7 ET: 10

You may be able to run without the spacers. Check for rubbing with the upper control arm. The center bore is listed as 106 mm, so no hubcentric rings are needed.

No they dont look like those.

they look like these http://www.wheelsandspinners.com/product.php?productid=1028 without the chrome finish. And I dont think theres any offset to mine. And I derped my wheels so they look black in my sig. I'm not running spacers, sorry i meant 2 inch leveling kit for height. But I have no spacers on my wheels. and there's no rub on my UCA. Yeah I had the hub ring put in just because I didn't know what else to try...

After a little bit of research, your wheels require acorn style lug nuts, just like the picture I mentioned. Even though you have hub rings, the acorn lug nuts will help center the wheels on your truck. I would try those before buying a new set of wheels.

:spy: Got the same issue about to go to a road force balancer to get them re-balanced. I mjyself though bought LT tires for the snowflake  (winter driving in canada) and aparently they can cause vibes because they are wider. I am running pro comps 7031's that almost look like those above..

I'll let ya know how the road force balancer does. Oh and fyi i am running general grabbers at2

hmm... the road force balance is just a higher quality of a balance?? Cuz I had mine re-balanced too, with no fix. They said it was a better quality and it cost more. But it didn't correct my issue, so I got my money back lol.

i really want this problem fixed. How much do you all think the dealership will cost to troubleshoot and correct this issue? just a estimate.

Could be bad ujoints. My brother's 4runner had a similar issue. Any speed above 50 or 60 it would shake pretty bad. If you let off the gas the shaking would lessen. Ended up that one of the ujoints was bad.

They would have replaced them at the shop, I hope :/ And when I release the gas it stays the same.

Probably not ujoints then. It would probably be a good idea to have them checked unless the shop already did. Is the shaking felt more in the steering wheel or your seat?

Try to rotate and switch the wheel/tire from front to back. If that doesn't work, find someone around your area that's willing to help and swap wheels with them to test/eliminate that it's a wheel/tire issue.

I meet a guy that had issues with brand new Duratracs. He swapped over another set of Pro Comp wheels with BFG tires and the vibe went away during the test drive. They only swapped the front for testing.
