Jake I will be getting the Bikila when the come out. My brother has them and he likes them a lot. Work them in slowly but they will strengthen your legs a lot.

The KSO are what he has now. The Bikila is suppose to be a little more comfortable, something about the strap.

A lot of people use the five fingers for CrossFit both men and women. But they are no good for running since it is pretty much bare foot so you get no support. I've only known them to be workout shoes (if you can call them shoes).

its actually better for you running barefoot.

when you run barefoot your natural instinct is to land on the balls of your feet which reduce the impact on your knees, meaning less shock to your body...

with shoes on the other hand, your first instinct is to land on your heels, which offer no "cushion" or "shock absorb" and the shock goes straight to your knees, with a result of higher impact.

Ok, i'm just going off of what people tell me that they don't like to run in them because it just hurts their feet.

Its most likely because theyre doing it wrong (not tryying to be a hipster dick) alot of peoples first instinct is landing on your heel first...if you can get in a hbabit of landing on the balls of your feet it can reduce a lot of injury and you will most likely enjoy yyour run more than usual. Now im not saying go hit the streets barefoot. If you (or anyone else) wanna try running barefoot, go to a huge field and run around that a while to get used to being barefoot then slowly start runnin on cement and you will start developing caluses and in no time youll be a lean mean barefoot running machine!! :p

Oh and btw the fibrams protect your feet against that...all the good things about running barefoot, minus the caluses.

My wife and I have a pair of these. As for pain, it's much less painful for me than shoes. I had a knee fracture that really hurts when I run with running shoes. With these, it doesn't bother my knee at all (I did a 2 mile run first time out with them). The key is to run on the balls of your feet. Your foot provides an extra spring that takes a lot of the load off your knees. It's a tremedous workout for your calves and it strengthens your ankles as well.

I found them after reading a study on barefoot running. Barefoot running exerts about half the g-forces on your knees as running with shoes. http://www.popsci.com/science/artic...nning-study-finds-your-sneakers-are-unnatural

I wouldn't judge them by walking around in the store. It feels like it would hurt if you ran in them because you tend to walk heel/toe. They have a trail version too if you're interested in running on trails (thicker sole).

I own two pair of KSO's and my wife has a pair of Sprints....I run in them (including mud runs) and do pretty much anything else in them...They'll give you a kickass calf workout for about a month until you get stronger.

I'll be getting another pair soon....Highly recommend them...go to Birthdayshoes.com for legit info.

My dad's an avid marathon runner and loves his 5 fingers shoes. He's really into running and says they allow you to run in your body's natural position and build your muscles better. He runs almost 1 marathon per month and 7-10 miles a few days a week.
