Just had the clutch replaced in my 1997 Tacoma 4x4 5speed. 202k miles. After getting it back it now has a tight vibration that happens primarily between 25-50 mph. Don't really feel at 70mph or 20mph.
    - When i take it out of gear at speed i still feel the vibration
    - Does seem to matter what gear it's in
    - Still there even with clutch engaged.
    - Checked all the u-joints on the drive shaft and they seem ok.
    - I did noticed some play in the carrier bearing.

Seems odd that it never happened before but its there right after i get it back. Could they have gotten the driveshaft out of balance? or possibly engine mounts? Seems too coincidental.

As an added plus there is some fluid around some of the bolts after they put everything back together and resealed.

With that style of driveshaft with the carrier bearing, I'm assuming it's all one piece and I'm not sure they could throw off the balancing even if they wanted to, unless they somehow were able to knock the balancing weight off of the driveshaft. With my 4runner, it has a slip yoke and the slip yoke and main driveshaft are balanced as a unit. If you separate them and then don't put them back in the same orientation, you could throw off the balancing.

I doubt it's engine mounts but anything is possible.

I would take it back to the shop and see what they have to say. Doubt it's coincidental. They didn't do something right.

The drive shaft comes apart in the sections. I can see where they marked them and looked to be put back as they were marked. I'm going to stop by and talk to them tomorrow.

    What brand clutch was installed?

If the flywheel or clutch plate is out of balance or not torqued correct a vibration is possible

I could see this as a possibility as well but you'd have to be a pretty incompetent mechanic to not get the the flywheel of clutch pressure plate on correctly. A centerforce clutch pressure plate has balancing weights on it and maybe the OP got one of these and there's a defect with the balancing weights.

I tend to agree but then I have seen some very interesting things over the years !!

Then some places you have the rush rush bounce between 3 bays .

Maybe the OP will have a up date !

    OME and worth every penny.
Well, at least that's a good sign. Since they did all the work take it back first instead of trying to diagnose.
Maybe they'll know exactly what went wrong. The mechanic may have woke in the middle of the night with a bad dream that he forgot to tighten somebodies pressure plate or found 4 bolts in his pocket the next morning.
