I did a lift, tires and all about a year ago, so not right after any modifications. Although I did do a dorman front wheel hub and bearing swap about 2 months ago and maybe a tire rotation about a week before but that's it.

I can drive with a removed driveshaft?? 4H? Won't that cause damage?

    Thanks for the advice.

When did you first notice it had a vibration? Was it prior to all this or in the midst of it.

Don't do that unless it's an absolute emergency.

No it will not cause any damage at all. Ignore the guy above. From your other post it sounds like you may also jut need to get your wheels balanced to get rid of vibes

Yes. It sounds like you might need a new CB. Could test by removing the rear driveshaft as @hx989 said. When I did mine it had maybe 3/8 of an inch of play up/ down I pushed up on it. Swapping it out made a huge difference, then the needle bearing gave out a few months later haha

See my posts below for some info on the process as well as part numbers.

I know of people that have busted birfields doing it. So yes you can damage components of the driveline. If you're dead set on doing it be very gentle with the throttle cause the front end will try to walk on you.

The vibration started weeks after all of this.

This may be the problem because my center bear has a good bit of play up and down but I though that was normal.
Im going to 1) check balance 2) change CB

Would you mind sending me a link or part # for 2007 4.0L V6.

Thanks all for the input, a really big help.

I didn’t realize I needed to spell out a disclaimer to the effect that you don’t throw on 35s, find a gnarly trail, lock the steering and then floor it... mea culpa.

There’s nothing wrong with taking off the rear (or front) shaft to diagnose vibes. Hell I’ve driven home over a hundred miles in front wheel drive after destroying my drive shaft on a rock.

There are better parts available than OEM if you are lifted. Look up IEDLS bearing for example. The generic off the shelf spacer only gets the bearing in the ballpark but a 2” block will result in different final heights on different trucks. Find the correct height with a string tied to the diff and tcase. Even more important to avoid vibes - for good - is that the diff and xfer case flanges are parallel (which yours should be close to if the blocks are angled and installed correctly

@hx989 my bad as well, I wasn't trying to say it can't be done. I'm just well aware of Murphy's law and I try to avoid the " it can't get any worse" scenarios. He had mentioned that his cv's weren't in good shape.

The string idea is genius. I am going to get that replaced. Ill get back if this does not solve vibrations.

Just changed CB, vibration still there. Going to try transmission inspection.

I have a similar situation going on. But no issues in the rear. Ecgs bushing installed and still getting vibes from the front end that dissappear in 4 hi. Cvs are all good it seems.

Still haven’t fixed it, I can only assume transmission problems. I’ve learned how to drive with it, I just accelerate when I feel it coming. Let me know if you solve...

OP, did you ever figure anything else out with your vibration issue?
