So I have searched around but cant find anybody talking about the hmm......hmm....hmm vibration noises coming from the 3rd gen Tacomas. The noise is loudest when its cold and when coasting (foot off the gas). And has about a 1 second delay between vibrations, the vibs go away when in 4wd. It also does it in 2wd and in neutral. I think its the thick oil in the front diff turning and causing a fluid shear force which causes my front drive line to spin. Anybody else notice this issue, I have 500 miles on my Tacoma and its all stock. I took it to the dealer but they found nothing.

I have and it's not the needle bearing, this has no lift and only 500 miles on it. And I also heard they fixed that with the 2016 models.

Is the front drive line supposed to spin when in 2wd?

I think it does, but there are more people on this forum that have alot more expertise than me.

Ok that makes sense, I am going to remove the drive line and see if it still makes the noise.....

IIRC, there is a recent needle bearing fix for 2nd Gen, but our trucks did not recieve the TSB part.
From my understanding, bad needle bearings are the symptom, rather than the cause.
It's the slop in the cast housing that is the problem. That's why ECGS made a harder, higher tolerance bushing.
