I had a talk with a service manager and told him my experience..
showed him the pics I took of the rusted out U Joints and the invoice showing the
recommendation to replace the driveshaft to the tune of $1200,.he admitted of the misdiagnosis , he was not too concerned of the
fact that they told me the driveshaft was bent and it was false. He stated that, like u said Vegenaut!!, that they don't like to replace individual parts of an assy cause they want to make sure they solve the problem at the first attempt. So I told him as an example, that if my doctor says that I have a bad heart valve, he is not going to recommend to remove and replace my heart., right?so..of course he didn't have a satisfying answer to me about anything that I was telling him. so the best he could do fo me was ,ready for this!!, credit me the $112 chg for the diag to use it the dealer for any service I wanted or needed done! I sat there and almost fell out of my chair, then asked him if he was kidding me!! that I WOULD NEVER BRING MY Truck IN HERE EVER AGAIN for them to work on it, especially after this deal! bottom line: i didn't get anywhere with the service manager..who should i talk to next and if they ask me what i want, what do you guys think i should ask for??
    thanks all for the replies!

speak to the GM of the dealership...explain your situation and appreciate the credit of your money but respectfully decline and would rather have a refund. dont tell them that you'll never return to the dealership again....bad thing to say. think about it, at that point what motivation do they have to try and keep you as a customer. see what happens from there.

I think its pretty easy, the diagnosed a bent shaft - they can't prove to you it is a bent shaft because they didn't do the diagnostic and just guessed it's bent even though its not = money back.

If I order a steak and they bring a salad, I'm not paying for steak either until I get my steak

Even though the replacement would have fixed it too, next time they suggest to buy a new truck when a wheel bearing goes out??

That's right Flowin! I believe that a refund was in order, the Service MAnager I spoke with only offered me the credit and not a refund ,nothing else . This particular problem
was too easy to troubleshoot and clear as day to see(rusted U Joints).
which leads me to believe they were not interested in the less expensive fix.

no problem...good luck. worse case scenario, you have a credit. you dont need to use it in the service department, you can use it for parts aswell.

If your not to busy spend a Saturday in front of the dealership with a lawn chair
and a placard sign that says "Ask Me before getting service here" it's nice that you live in FL. not Minnesota. LOL
