Just leased a 2018 Tacoma Sport 4X4. I noticed there is a harmonic vibration any time it is in the range of 1800 to 2200RPM while accelerating. Doesn't matter what speed you are going. I tried three others and one had it to a lesser degree. It's aggravating, especially when driving long distances because you can feel it in the steering wheel, floor, even slightly as a passenger. Had it in the local shop and the head mechanic acknowledged the issue, said there is no fix for it, but Toyota is saying it is "normal." Apparently the configuration of 4x4, V6, automatic is the only one that has this issue. Is anyone aware of this?

Silly question- does it do this when you're stopped, revving the engine in neutral?

Have you changed anything on the vehicle at all since you bought it, tires, suspension, etc? (Not that any of those would be the culprit, I'm just eliminating places to troubleshoot)

Mine does it in those exact RPMs as well. It comes and goes. Some days it's smooth as butter some days not so much. I've noticed driving in ECT tends to make it less frequent. I have a small lift on right now with 265/70/17 KO2s but the vibes were still there when I was stock too so not sure what it is. Just learnt to live with it or do as the other guys say and force the dealer to find a solution. Up to you.

    Does it happen in 4wd?

    Yup
I'm convinced it's some type of axle wrap/driveline harmonic vibe. Hoping the Dakar HDs and some shims will help but we shall see. Lol

I think it’s a symptom of these trucks. Mine has slight vibes too

I read something about the torque converter causing vibes in that RPM range as well. Oh well. It's just a truck and it's just money.

I'm honestly more upset that I don't have a grab handle on the drive side than I am about these vibrations. Haha

I picked it up at 9 p.m. and complained at 10 miles. It now has 600 on it. Wanted to get one for a couple of years. Had an older 2nd generation 4-cylinder standard and I loved the mileage but not the towing. So the vehicle is new. No upgrades. Haven’t tried in 4-wheel. Disappointed because I didn’t expect this with a new vehicle, and a Toyota besides. Another issue is the automatic transmission shift points. Seems rough, almost like it’s being held back. They did a shift software upgrade, but not really much better.
