    Hi Toyotaholics,

I'm having an issue that driving me crazy I'm close to burn the truck down Lmao . My truck is a 2003 double cab 4x4 v6 Automatic So I'm having a bad vibration when I'm in the highway from 50mph and up I never ever had that issue. I already changes the rotors and pads, both front wheel baring, my drive shaft u-joints and center carrier baring, all 4 ball joints tie rods, I just bought 4 new tires and bought some fj wheels thinking maybe my original wheel may he bent. And I'm still having that vibration. Any help is greatly appreciated

Any history of the rear wheel bearings being replaced? Can you go fast enough for the vibration to go away? Maybe whomever installed the new tires didn't balance them well enough?

@Red_03Taco the rear i swapped it because original one was no good. So I bought a parts truck the had the rear end I needed with only 103k miles on it I drove about 50k so far. The vibrations starts at 50 to 65 at 70 starts mellowing out. The tires took to town fair tires they installed the tires balanced them 2 times and did an alignment and still the same thing the vibration you feel more on the floor where the pedals are not much on the steering wheel

Put it on jack stands and have someone drive it at 50 and see what shakes. Could be a bent axle.

Yes. Also possible a weight got thrown/knocked off. I think some driveline shops can check it

@wilcam47 I'm going to have to get that check. Stupid question can you see the vibration if I jack it on 4? Probably would be a weight came off because I installed all the u joint on the driveline and carrier baring

If something is bent yes. You can feel around to see where the vibration is the strongest.

Prob would see it wobble if its bad enough to see. Id have someone watch for you, while you are in the vehicle. In case it slipped off jacks for some reason

Mine was a tire issue,,, had fairly new Wranglers which did the same thing as yours from the get go. I didn't throw any parts at it just figured it was the tires from the way it acted,, 50mph and over to 65 to 70 drive you nuts. Put on new Michelin's , problem solved

@pulldo I had KO2 tires for a long time with no issues I bought same tires didn't have an issue but did feel a difference after I took it to take the wheels bearings a slight vibration saw the center carrier baring was bad I changed it and did the u-joint because why not the drive line was already off. Few Weekes later the vibration happened again I don't feel it on the steering wheel. I did notice yesterday while driving 4 hours the transmission shifters shake really really bad

I'm thinking of propping up mine on 4 jack stands too, shifting into drive and hitting gas for a while to diagnose a light vibration. If the vibration is still there, what components would that rule out?

Same with if the vibration is eliminated, what would it rule out?

Would it also help isolate something to do the same with only the rear tires propped up? I'm imagining a combination of these might reveal something. I don't suppose there's a guide someone has written about this? It seems like a common thing that could be useful.

If the vibration is in the air then you know that the tires don't have a hard spot. You can talk them off and rule those out completely. When its in the air you know its not a loose suspension component. If it does it in neutral it's an engine mount. You can also try that going down the road and see if being in neutral makes it better. Being on jacks also rules out front axles as the front wheels shouldn't spin. You can pop out the rear driveshaft and drive in 4wd to see if the rear driveshaft is bent.

    Road Force Balancing

Remove Drive Shaft and get it balanced

Replace rear brake shoes and drums

I chased everything I could think of.. ended up being the drums.

@Andy01DblCabTacoma I never thought about the rear drums I did the the fronts with the tundra conversion but never did the back. I'm going to try that out. Because the drive shaft shop that was near me closed and the closes one is almost 2hr away

Please post it on here when/if you get it figured out please. I've been chasing this issue down for a while on my '99. Can't find what's causing it. Good luck!

I had a vibration that was my fault for losing the alignment on my rear drive shaft. Took it to get it balanced and rebuilt so that's all fixed now. I do still notice a strange power surging feeling on hard acceleration and also a "thud?" or similar feeling to being unbalanced under specific conditions I can't replicate yet. I think it could be the front drive shaft now, or something else driveline, but it's going to drive me mad as well.

    Front tie rods?

    When taco on Jack stands
Grab front tires at 9 and 3 o’clock
    Shake…..if play outer tie rods

this condition would cause high wear on front tires
