Less than 4k miles on a 2023 Tacoma, 4x4 SR, getting a vibration through the steering wheel and gas pedal, nothing bad but I started to wonder because it wasnt in my older truck.

Asked local shop they said "feels like something is transmitting when you accelerate", took it to the dealership they said "there's no problem" their trouble shooting consisted of driving around the block.
The vibration is most apparent at the 45 mph to 55 mph during normal acceleration, once the gear shft over at 55 or so it disappears.
I've added some BFGoodrich KO2's 2 days ago, now the vibration is more pronounced, but still not "severe" and I feel it in lower speeds too.

Truck shifts fine, but now the vibration has seeped into the worry part of my brain, any ideas? Normal? Not normal?

Road force balancing solved my vibration problem at 55-60.

You think it's the tires, kinda makes sense as it got worse with the wider tires.

Sounds like it could be tire balancing, good place to start.

I don't know, it vibrated with the stocks tires it came with, the only change with the new tires is that it got worse, so 2 sets of tires unbalanced?

Also make sure your lugs are torqued correctly. These trucks are finicky to the torque tolerance on the lugs, 83 foot pounds, and more often than not they just get blasted by an impact gun when installed.

For example, a slight vibe I noticed was solved when I used my own torque wrench to set the lugs at the right amount after the dealer had torqued them all to over 100 (I kept testing with mine and it kept not clicking… god knows how high they were torqued).

These trucks are terrible in the NVH department. They need a lesson from Ram…..which had so many NVH issues in the 90’s they dumped Dana axle, and the Mound Road driveshaft plant was “nuked”. Somehow they figured out how to build a smooth riding truck and a good propeller shaft. I know it’s a sore point here but the five link, coil spring rear suspension had a lot to do with their learning curve.
That said, almost every vehicle has some nuance that is a thorn in owners paws. It’s all in what you can live with.
To the OP: I’m genuinely sorry you’re having issues already.
Tacoma is such a great little truck when they are “right”.
I hope you get it worked out.

I have a vibe at 20-25 and then 50-55 through steering wheel. Subtle but there. Had it since I got truck. Brought it in at 1000 miles. They said yea we feel it but have no answer. They claim Toyota aware and looking into a solution and it’s widespread

Those tires are heavier if they weren't road force balanced I would give it a try. It cost me $95 for all 5 already mounted to the rims. Well worth it unless you can chase down a suspension issue or bad tire which road force could also identify.

When they balanced mine they found 1 out of the 4 rims I was driving on was definitely lighter or something was going on with it compared to the other 3. Truck had 200 miles at the time and only I drove it so who knows what was going on. The stock tires were fine only when they removed the factory weights and put on the new tires did things go south.

Not too handy myself but I think I can do this (have to buy the tool) but how did you assess your lugs being torqued at 100 FP? How did you know that's where they were?

Also reading the instructions on the link below I wonder if I could lift the wheels one at a time with the jack that came with the truck, what do you guys think?

Don’t hold your breath. This model is phasing out for 4th gen, they’ll be too busy taking care of those issues.
They already have your money, honestly I’ve seen too many carmakers with this frame of mind.

It’s easy to do and you should definitely own a torque wrench.

I tested by stating at 80 and it didn’t click. Then kept going up by 10 foot pounds and no click which means it was higher.

Put it in 4wd and see if the issue goes away. If it does it's the front diff bushing.

I love my truck as well, quirks and all. This is my 4th Toyota truck (an 88,97,01,19) and every one has/had a drive line vibration.

If its a very slight vibration at a few different speeds, my buddies 2019 trd did this. He went back to the dealer where they checked over the truck, and noted it. They told him its a normal occurrence on those trucks.
