drove my TRD OR back from Colorado and noticed a pretty significant vibration between 75 and 77 mph. Instead of driving out to the dealer in traffic I decided to go to my neighborhood Discount Tire. Look how much weight was on the rim and inner wheel from the factory! They're trying to rebalance it now with less weight. If they can't I'm going to the dealer for a new tire. image.jpg

You would think that when they were matching wheels to tires at the factory they would say to themselves "that's too much weight, I'll put this tire in the pile we're sending back to Goodyear."

The latter. My vin starts with "3". Although I'm not sure where the tires and wheels are put together.

I've got an appt tomorrow morning because I've got a pretty good steering wheel shimmy at about the same speeds. Pretty sure one of the front tires isn't balanced properly!

Weathertech front floor liners, window vent visors. Custom bedside decals. OEM bed mat, tonneau covrew. Added D rings to bed.
oh man. Hope it's not the dreaded driveline vibes still. Would think with everything being new they would have gotten rid of that.

It's definitely the tires. There was a ton of weight on there.

I'm at the dealer right now and have the exact same issue. Service guy just came out and said there's a ton of weight on 2 of the tires. So they're taking all of them off and are going to rebalance all the tires!

I'm at the dealer now too. Already tried that at discount tire yesterday. If it needs that much weight the tire is defective in my opinion. If they come back to me with the same solution they came to you with I'm just going to tell them to replace the tire. Moving that much weight around is not a solution.

Update: still at the dealer. Rebalanced and rotated. 6oz of weight on one tire! Service foreman says he can't replace tire, going to try to force match it or some shit and then rebalance. I told him there is no way that's not a defective tire if it takes 6oz to balance and the others take a half oz or a few grams. His response: "the computer says its balanced so I can't replace the tire" then "it is a truck you know". I told him not to start down that road with me. About to tell this dealer go eat a d*ck. how are you fairing Aaron?

Service apologized for the inconvenience, they took the weights off and re-balanced the tires for me without question.

I didn't notice any wheel shake on the drive from the dealer to work but the streets don't allow for higher speed travel. The real test will be on my way home where I'll hit 110-120 km/h (75ish mph) was really noticeable at that speed.

Hope they figure yours out! If the service guy is being a jackass get your salesman involved if it's the same dealership!!

It's not. Bought in Colorado and I'm in Dallas. That's the exact speed I felt mine. How much weight to balance yours? If they are truly balanced.

    Shit!

I didn't actually ask how much weight was on there his exact words were - "there's just way too much weight on 2 of the tires"

Service took it for a test drive, confirmed the problem, re-balanced the tires, confirmed the issue was gone and said to me if I experience it again to let them know right away!

Well, they just tried to road force balance it and were not able to get it within specs so it turns out the tire was defective. New one doesn't arrive until Friday but I don't have any hwy trips before then. Dealer came through.

I'm just happy it was something simple like this. You get a pit in your stomach when something seems off on a brand new vehicle after shelling out all that money. But this is why buying new can be beneficial.

True. Glad it was an issue that wasn't Toyota related.

Got it up to speed on the way home from work and there's no lingering issue.

    Smooth like butta!!
