I think it's just the result of an echo chamber / feedback loop. All these specialized forums seem to go through it.

    A couple things to understand:

-- $30k is right around the average price of a new vehicle. I remember my folks buying a $6k new car. I thought that was a lot at the time. My first new car was $20k, 25yrs ago. It was just a PoS Dodge. Eventually, you need to reset your perspective. It took me a while to digest it all, esp as those two vehicles barely made it to 100,000mi and were not reliable for just getting to work. Even Big2.5 bottom-feeders will run 150k without only minor issues these days. Adjusted value per dollar is actually going up not even considering safety and features. Now, pay growth and other cost of living factors are not part of the equation and can't be lumped on to vehicle MFGs.

-- The only way Recalls get initiated is if folks actually file complaints to the NHTSA and if it relates to vehicle safety.

-- TSBs are non-binding fixes for significant issues (as judged by the MFG) for vehicles under warranty. If the warranty is expired, TSBs are purely good will.
