Hi all. I know it's been a while on this topic since someone has posted. But I figured I would throw in my 2 cents. My 2021 Tacoma has the vibration issue also. It starts at about 48 mph and doesn't get worse as speed increases, but is still noticeable. Below about 45 mph, it is smooth as silk. I have had it to the dealer multiple times over the past 10 months since I got it and they have balanced tires, aligned, switched tires and even tried to switch out the drive shaft to see if it would help. The switch in my tires did make it to where I could not feel the vibration through the steering wheel but I still do feel it above 48 mph.

I finally persuaded the service manager to take a ride with me and he does feel it, but claims it is vibration due to the tight specs, etc. that Toyota requires. Which I think is BS. I am going to take to a different dealer and let them see if they can find anything. A brand new ordered from the factory Tacoma should be smooth as silk through all speeds. Shouldn't it?

I have driven countless other cars that do not exhibit this vibration at any speed.

Update. Took to another dealer. Service tech drove and says it is happening in 6th gear in the speed range of about 45 mph to about 70 mph. Over 70 mph, it smooths out again. He suspects resonance, but, because I have had this in another dealer for the same reason, there is a Toyota protocol to go through where he has to drive another similar Tacoma to prove it is not happening with another vehicle, then report back to Toyota. I will be taking in my truck back to this dealer in a few days for more investigation, etc. To be continued........

They had me drive another Tacoma then, the Area Rep. asked, "did you feel the vibration ?" I replied "no", he then said, "well I drove the same and could feel the same as yours are you sure you didn't even feel a little vibration ?" I said, " nothing unusual and certainly nothing I would be concerned with.) He said " then you did feel a little which is a Normal Characteristic !" Case closed...

When I took my truck for the fuel pump recall to a different dealer I asked, them to look into the vibration and the service manager pulled up my vin# and said, sorry this issue has been closed so, check back every so often to see if there is a service bulletin.

Before about 45 mph and after about 75 mph, this thing is silky smooth. No vibration at all. But between those speeds, there is an undeniable vibration. We'll see what they say

Did you have the vibration prior to your lift? If not it’s probably due to your lift and it’s possibly your needle bearing. I would switch out to the ECGS bushing which I did on mine when I lifted my truck to avoid any potential vibes.

Don't think its the needle bearing as it only happens after 65mph and its slight steering vibration. There is no humming or grinding noises. I will probably do the ECGS but i dont thing thats what the vibration is from.

Possibly wheel & tire balance is off if you’re getting vibes on the steering wheel. This happened to me after getting tires from discount tires. After getting my tires I started getting vibes around 60 mph on the steering wheel. Took it back to discount and had them rebalance it and the vibes disappeared.

I took mine to Wheel Medic in Columbus, OH to see what they thought. Said not the wheels and that this was fairly common especially when these trucks are lifted (mine is not lifted) and that it is most likely the needle bearings in the drive train. He also says that he can hear it more than he can feel it and that the frequency of the vibration that he hears did not make him suspect the tires or wheels (bearings, etc). I'm not a mechanic, nor would I pretend to be, but I think perhaps he was referring to the needle bearings in the U Joints??

It really pisses me off that Toyota has told me that this is inherent with these trucks. I've never heard/felt this kind of vibration/rumble in any vehicle that I have owned that couldn't be fixed with a balance or alignment, etc. I told Toyota HQ that if this is inherent in their trucks, then perhaps they have a big problem because it is not inherent, it is a problem.

Incidentally, the road force balance was good for the most part. They did find that my tires did need a little weight here and there to make balance closer to perfect. They did that and it does ride smoother than before, but because it rides smoother, I can hear the vibration/rumble more now....

@ Zoo Truck.... Don't think that thought has not already gone through my mind!!!! The new Ranger and a Frontier were the other 2 trucks that I was contemplating. Ranger lost out because no V6, the Frontier just lost out to the Tacoma because I thought Toyota maybe had better quality and a better product - plus I liked the Army Green color of the 2022 TRD Sport. Now, kind of wishing I would have opted for the Frontier like your friend.

I haven't been in a ranger except i know a water company that has them in their fleet along with 3rd gen tacoma's...some employees love the ranger as its got way more power with its eco boots motor, same for my buddy with his frontier...way more power with their v6, and a much smoother/ no vibrations ride, that his trud had driven him crazy. Idk, maybe toyota needs to up its game on some trims. You should drive my sr5, much different performing truck...it has none of what my buddies trd had.
