It's probably so small that you don't notice it. Because I had the problem I'm now one with the steering wheel and notice everything. Lol

Do you feel pulsating / buzzing vibrations through the accelerator pedal when it is lightly to moderately depressed between 45-55 MPH? I can never get the dealer to acknowledge this issue.

I suspect all of these problems are differential related.

I would guess pinion angle, personally. That, or improper differential backlash settings. Just because both require somebody to read and understand precision tools in order to be properly set and a 10th of a degree or a few thousandths of an inch difference in each, respectively, will cause vibrations or clunks at certain times when the problem is exacerbated and presents itself.

Thus axle shims should theratically fix the issue at least partially, but I’m sure some will run into issues with Toyota for “modifying” the vehicle.

Yeah, axle shims would fix it in a stock truck. I had my leaf spring mounts welded in at the right angle when I did my SUA conversion but either one solves the original issue. SUA has the added bonus of eliminating axle wrap :burnrubber:

My 16 does that -- told it's a harmonic vibration - normal operating condition, probably they said cheap rubber engine mounts. Dealer also told me "all Tacoma's vibrate, some more than others."

Was it at the same speed with yours? I can feel something at all speeds but it’s not really noticeable until 45-55 MPH, almost like a phone vibrating under my foot, but only with specific pedal inputs. If I give it more or less it lessens or disappears completely.

Costs less to use rubber engine mounts. Drive a Ranger, or GMC/Colorado - they use hydraulic mounts. You won't feel as much harshness...much smoother ride. I only buy Toyota vehicles as I prefer them to the competion.

Mine does that when in the1600-2200 RPM range only. Yes, feels like the old iphone vibrating on your foot. Most people drive between 1600-2200 range, so it's very annoying on long trips.

I wonder if there are hydraulic Lexus engine and transmission mounts that would fit these trucks

Edit: thinking about using Eastwood X-Mat insulation to mitigate the issue however I’m not sure if it’ll work.

Not compatible, we looked into that.
---Some guys have insulated the throttle or added exhaust weights to lessen the vibration. I am not confident about removing the gas pedal assembly as I don't want it to jam in traffic.

Yep. That's the one. 1600-2200 under load. Annoying as all hell because these trucks live in that range.

Unfortunately. Dealer acknowledged feeling it. They then drove other trucks that did the same thing and... wait for it... determined it must be NORMAL. The crazy thing is that with a little bit of time, effort and resources, this vibration could be eliminated or substantially minimized. Corporate laziness at its finest. My '04 Tahoe with 150K on it is smooth as silk through all RPM ranges and loads. As are/were the other 35 vehicles I've owned in my lifetime.

My belief is that anything that vibrates to that degree will, over the long term, fail prematurely.

Part of the problem is that engine/ transmission, the 3rd gens vibrate more than the 2ng gens. The dealer told me 3 years ago, that Toyota was planning to fix this vibration.

+1 silky smoothness of Tahoe’s, I had a Yukon that thing drove like it had air suspension.

Got the “normal characteristic of the vehicle” line from every dealership in Houston for the vibration or that they couldn’t duplicate.

Vibrations exist in ALL vehicles. There has got to be a way to better insulate whatever drivetrain vibrations exist in this truck so you don't feel them so obviously. If the vibration between 1600-2200RPM existed at ALL rpm's nobody would buy the truck or they'd have fixed it by now.

You are correct. In the Ranger for example the vibrations are hidden in the 4000 RPM range that's why you don't feel them in addition to the oil filled engine mounts. Ford and GMC also cut costs on other areas, that's why I stick with Toyota...It has not hurt Toyota sales so, they have not fixed this yet....I am very surprised they have not engineered this out after 3 years of production.
