    When you try rotating the MAF sensor, you will see that it only goes one way. It is dummy proof from the factory. Is the foam seal installed on the MAF sensor from KN? Is the electrical connection inserted all the way in to the MAF sensor? Are all the vacuum lines connected in the proper location? How many times have you tried to run the truck where it just died?

    i'm gonna try rotating the maf tomorrow. i just watched the youtube video on install and i believe i have the maf oriented backwards.

    not sure what you're talking about with a foam seal. the maf is the same oem maf that the truck came with. you stick a spongy pad between the maf and the tube so it's airtight.

    man if this doesn't working i'm completely SOL.

    I'm just saying because a guy I work with had a tundra that came in with the same symptoms. Had a k & n intake and the MAF was installed in reverse so there was never any air flow info to the ECM. He reversed it and it worked fine. You can't reverse them on a stock intake but on an aftermarket intake it may be manufactured differently to where you can.



    Hopefully that's what it is.

    Rotating the MAF is pointless, it only goes one way, but, give it a shot. The foam seal, or what ever seal KN supplies for the MAF. Everything that I just asked you, is what KN tech support will ask you. So go through what I asked again, and check that it is all good. If you have only tried to start your truck once or twice, try again until it starts and stays running. If you get a check engine light after it's running, go have it checked at the parts store, or if you have a code reader, check it yourself. These intakes are pretty strait forward, and are hard to mess up. It may be that you overlooked something, or that the truck is just learning the new equipment.

    Only way to have the MAF facing the wrong direction, is if the tube is installed backwards.

    I think the computer is just trying to learn the new equipment, but the air leak doesn't sound right. Let it idle for 15 or 20 minutes.

    i reversed the maf and it still didn't work. you can indeed rotate it 180 degrees.

    well, it definitely starts, then peters out. if i push on the gas pedal, it runs a little longer. maybe i should just push on the gas a little to keep the engine going long enough for the computer to figure out some new air/fuel ratios and whatnot? what do you guys think?

    Swap back to stock. Then you can rule out a) a bad MAF sensor b) vacuum leak with the new intake.

    Is it oiled or dry cai?

    I had the same issue with my dry cai from afe and it was from rinsing it out the wrong way. I was just letting water run on the outisde to clean it. Once i redid the process and ran water inside the filter and let it dry, hooked it up and it started right up
