I tried my hand at HDR the other evening. I came up with some alright shots for a first time... just needed some more light. The best one is in my sig now, I'll post up the others in a few.

You will just have to play with it. My first few HDRs were horrendous!

Well I found out that my Nikon D60 doesn't have some type of function that is almost essential for HDRs. I can't recall what it was called at the moment. But I have to manually adjust the shutter speed after every picture, which makes any type of shots with movement almost impossible.

Also, do you use the HDR method on a picture like this, since the car is in motion?

Yeah, my D40 does not either. It is called AB (auto bracketing). I actually do not like that feature because it only takes 3 images (have not seen it changed to a different amount). This only gives me a general range of light. For daytime, I take at least 5 images. I take at least 7 for night time images. It is nearly impossible to do HDR with a moving subject, since you would have to consecutively take at least 3 images. There is a way where you can take just 1 image and Photomatix Pro can try to adjust it, but it is not too pretty. That pic of the M3 was just taken in shutter priority mode (the "S" on the dial).

I have Photomatix Pro but it never lets me do just one image. I can't seem to get around that.

You could always adjust the exposures in photoshop or any other image editing software and save it 3+ times then import them into photomatix.

I've tried the "batch single file" option, but when I select the source folder, nothing ever shows up.

Sorry, just joined the thread. I'm curious though, are you layering images on top of each other (5 day, 7 night)? I don't have a high end by any means, but my canon rebel xsi does fairly well. Any tips?

Just looked back, can you explain a little more in def about the HDR method? Are you changing settings at all for each shot? And is Photomatrix Pro the program you use to do this? Thanks man!

I couldn't agree more with this statement...it seems people always go out and buy these expensive DSLR and expect high quality images right off the bat. My favorite is when people always ask why their pictures don't look sharp and clear :p

You skills are amazing bro!! I've always admired your HDR shots...I gave up on that a while ago! Haha :D I'll stick to my off-road stuff. :p
